UFC superstar Tito Ortiz was arrested Monday and slapped with domestic abuse charges after his wife, legendary adult actress Jenna Jameson, alleged that he beat her up.
According to TMZ, police in Huntington Beach, California, where the couple lives with their one year-old twin sons, reported that Jameson had visible injuries when they showed up in response to a 911 call.
In an interview with TMZ, Jameson said Ortiz threw her in a bathtub, tearing two ligaments in her shoulder. Paparazzi photos taken Tuesday show Jameson wearing an arm cast.
But Ortiz is denying the charges, and his lawyer, Chip Matthews, said Monday that Jameson lashed out at her husband when he confronted her about allegedly relapsing on the powerful prescription painkiller OxyContin. She was reportedly in rehab for the addiction last year.
My parents have gone through addiction and Im not going to let my family go through that, Ortiz said at a press conference Monday.
Jameson dismissed the claims and said Ortiz made up the story because hes very, very desperate.
Entertainment website BusyBuzzBlogging is reporting that in 1998, Ortiz pleaded guilty to a charge of battery with serious bodily injury and was sentenced to three years probation, 29 days in jail, and 232 hours of community service. His rap sheet would likely result in a harsher sentence if hes found guilty of battering Jameson.
Once the biggest mixed martial arts star on the planet, Ortiz hasnt won a match since 2006 and recently pulled out of a bout with fellow superstar Chuck Liddell due to an unidentified injury.
