looks good. if you wanted to to cut down on expence,you can eliminate the itakefan on the floor, take the duct from where it mets the filter and put a Y inline. run one part of the Y to your cool tube and the other brings in the air to the room. but pull from the outside and not from inside of a room. unless you have a window open in the room that allows a lot of freash air.

most carbon filters aren't in-line.

single fan setup
filter --> duct --> cooltube --> duct --> fan --> outside

2 fan setup
filter --> duct --> fan -->
duct --> cooltube --> duct --> fan -->

you can use a Y as suggester earlier but it takes more air to pull thru the carbon than the cooltube and air will take the path of least resistance..

i use a passive air intake

or put the fillter at the very end of the line.

I'm not a fan of cooling your hood from air inside your room. also if you exhaust all that heat to the room that your tent is in, you heat up the space where you fresh air is being drawn from. This will cause you temps to constantly rise and you will find it near impossible to maintain a constant temperature.

If you can vent to outdoors or another room. My hood draws air from the Attic and exhausts to the Attic. I draw air to cool the cabinet from the room the closet is in and vent it to the Attic as well.

Suck don't blow. Suck air across your light and vent to an outside space. Suck air through the carbon filter and vent it to a space that is separate from where the intake vent is. Then use passive intakes to bring fresh air into the room. This way you you fans are not working against each other, and if you do not cool your light with the air from inside your grow room it virtually remove that heat source from your enviroment.

BTW what type of light are you cooling?

what is passive intake?

As you suck air out of your space, the air preasure in your room is lower than the outside room. Opening vents in the tent then allows fresh air to be sucked in.

Remember suck in blow out.
ok i get the suck in blow out i think i know how to blow out but how do i suck in i thought my pic i drew would do this?

OK your set up is very similar to mine. You want to get the heat from your light to an area(room,outdoors,attic) that is completely segregated from the air that will be coming in to cool the tent.

I run a 400w MH for veg. my room 2 x 2 x 6 had a single 60CFM exhaust fan. I drew air from the room into the closet and vented to the same room. If the bedroom door was open temps were kinda OK. If I closed the bedroom door temps shot through the roof. So I moved the exhaust duct to the Attic and temps were stable but I had to have the un-vented hood to like 36" loosing all the benefits of using HID lights. So I went out an got a vented hood and a 160 CFM in line fan and pulled Air from the attic across the light and then back out to the Attic. All my heat is now exhausted to the attic and I am not using the house AC to cool the light. Now my 60CFM pulls fresh cool air from the bedroom and vents to the attic. My air cooled hood now sits 12" from the top of my plants and when I go to flower I will just snap in a Carbon filter on the 60CFM fan.

I now have temps that do not vary more than 5*, 79-82

if your light has a glass in it then no your not. your just exhausting the heat from the light. move the fillter out of were it is to after the light. put a Y inline. put the fillter in line after the Y. the duct with the fillter exhaust out of the tent, fillter to controle oder, and the other end of the Y is pulling the air out of the tent oder and all threw the fillter.

Heyyy Ill try to simplify for ya!

You have a fan that sucks air from outside your tent, and blows it in...imagine now your tent is a balloon and its blowing up...if you poke a hole in it air will come out of the hole because theres high pressure inside the room.Any air leaks will be blowing stinky air from in the room, to outside.

Its being suggested you remove the fan from this part, and just have a hole to the outside room (light proofed of course). Now when yo take the air from inside the tent, and pump it outside the tent, you can imagine all the walls folding in if there was no air leaks....now if you poke a hole in it the inside of the tent is at vacuum, so any holes will mean clean air from outside the tent rushes in...no stinky air will go out of the hole as long as air is rushing in.

The trick then is to have the right sized hole for air to come in...you want enough air to not pull the tent down, but not so much theres no pressure...your walls should gently suck in a bit, not too much!

+rep if i helped please.

EDIT: In your new pic, reverse the intake fan..so its blowing out.. have it blow air out from the TOP of the room where the air is hot..then just have a hole where your current intake is and you are set for negative pressure, also known as passive intake.

Then add your filter to that fan.

For your lights, suck air from outside the tent, through the cooltube then out the other side of the tent. you dont need to filter this air..it shouldnt smell its not touching room air.

Sorry im totally lost

my light is in a glass tube (cooltube)

do i start with ducting at the top of grow tent? then fan then light the Y with filter on on with ducting going out of tent where does the other Y end go?

thanks very helpful

i think i get it leave the intake fan so its just a open hole that take air from room as and when it needed.....

as for taking air from the room but also cool the light and use a filter is my drawing possible?

Hey guys, I've got a 9k btu portable a/c that I am looking to use and I am in a similar situation, but I need to vent out an entire room, part of which is used. I've done my homework, either going with valueline 4 inchline with a 4x12 phreshfilter, not sure on warranty. Or, from HTGsupply either the 4 or 6 inch combo inline fan/filter - the 6 comes with a 3year warranty. Can someone provide some input on this please. Ie, have you had luck with either brand or heard of others having good luck with them? Suggestions on other brands? How well will the dehumidifier on the a/c work? Will I have to run an add'l dehumid or will the one on the a/c suffice?

Thanks guys.
