Connecting Pvc

I'm not sure where the best place on this forum would be to post this so I will post it here.

I am looking for a way to connect pvc pipe and make it waterproof without using primer and glue. Does anyone know of a solution. I was thinking gluing some kind of thin rubber inside where the pipes meet each other for so that the rubber provides extra grip. The only reason I am interested in doing something like this is so that i can disassemble a system without having to ruin it by cutting or something. I am also not talking about doing this with 1 inch or 2 inch pipe. I would use 4 and 6 inch pipe to create a pretty sizeable system but i would want to be able to break it down and move it etc so i am looking for alternatives to primer and glue. Does anyone have some idea's. I am open to all ideas.

Im not worried about glues messing up my plants. I am worried about being able to disassemble a system easily and being able to move it and set it up again without having to replace pipe etc.

Like I said I dont plan on using small pipe. I plan on using 4 to 6 inch pipe and when the system is complete it is not going to be able to fit through doors so i need to be able to disassemble it without ruining it. 6 inch pipe isn't cheap.

isnt PVC kinda toxic to be running water into it? I use it to support my lights and fans not for running any nutrients through it. Sheet metal screw thru the joints will work just the same just connecting the two joints together and it makes them stable enouigh to support my 60 lbs of stuff.

I don't believe it is. I see people using it for plumbing all the time. Also I am talking about using soil/sewage type pipe.

they make gasketed pvc, it's called SDR and is typically GREEN instead of white

any tile(meaning pipe) supply, ( think septic fields, sanitary, storm sewer systems, typically the place you would buy a septic tank) will have pipe and enough different fittings to make your head spin

the joint in regular pipe are not water tight without glue, and pvc as well as cpvc are used for potable water supply regularly

Here is a good example. I am not planning a vertical grow but I will be using the same type of pipe in "heaths flooded tube vertical" thread. I am wondering what he did to connect his pipes "if he used glue or not" he doesn't seem to be around to ask though and also that thread got raped with questions that will never be answered lol.

That is the pipe i am talking about. Do I need glue for that or can i pretty much just set it and forget it? I just really do not want floods so im trying to gather all the info i can on this.

no glue-

the bell end of the pipe has an integral o ring and is rated for pressure although i'm not sure of the specs
typically when we use in on the job we use a lubricant to put it together, i think it's lard based, but i'm sure vegetable oil would work just fine if you flushed the system although VO should be pretty safe

They make slip unions in pvc that you can get at any supply store. made for sizes 1/2", 3/4", 1" and 1-1/4". They use a compression nut to the coupling with a rubber gasket. completly removable and reusable. They are what I use on my system.
