That perilous question... how worthless is a male?

I know you want to get them out of your grow room ASAP, once identified. But seeing as how I only have room for three plants at a time, I want to get the most out of my efforts. Now, I know the female is where all the worthwhile THC content is, but the male still has some too, right? A negligible amount, but some?

To expand, I'm a pipe smoker. I enjoy a good bowl of tobacco in my briarwood pipes. So I was wondering if I could let the male grow enough to be sporting some decent foliage (well seperate from any females) and then dry it out, mince up the leaves in a tobacco like cut, and smoke the ruffage in a pipe, like tobacco.

Is this a stupid thought? Will the straight foliage not smoke well at all?

Yes, it will smoke, but it's really not worth much of anything. So don't even bother growing it out. As soon as you identify a male, chop 'er down. Then smoke it if you choose, but if you let it grow and your females become pollinized, then you will lose more than you will gain.-P

Epic

Males do amount to many things, some just dont see their potential and see $$ with a female. Its about good botany dude, a male can be dried and smoked but like the above mentioned its not gonna give you anything you are looking for. Now if you intend on breeding or creating hybrids then you are gonna need a male every now and then. Also if you let it grow you can learn the way the male matures. Watching as it grows pollen sacks, drops them, and then opens them. In the future this could be helpful

just a thought though

Dude. I never even considered doing that, with cannabis. Grafting, that is. I know people do it with trees, but it just never occured to me to do it with cannabis. Maybe because they seem fragile compared to the robust sturdiness of a tree? I dunno. Just never occured to me. lol

But now ... HMMMMM. Food for thought, definitely.

If the male is big enough you should throw it in the crock pot with some oil. You still should get some effect from it!
