who has done it, who has pics?

who has flowered under a mh? have any pictures? no "hps is the only way to go" posts, i know that is the currently most advised way to grow for indoor flowering, but ive been following this, https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/36368-trichomes-thc-uvb-light.html, and financial issues w/christmas force me to flower under my 400w mh (w/2 85w cfls). want to see some pics of plants/bud flowered under only mh, or if anyone has done a comparison grow between the two, (mh and hps) that would be cool to see also. current understanding is that mh possibly produces better quality at the sake of quantity and time. post away:joint:

i forget who had posted pics of a plant they grew under only MH it looked pretty good better than my cfl grow at least but the only way to go is HPS, HPS or HPS haha im just fuckin with you man youll come out just fine

and i think you should use both of them for flowering and veg.
that is my gut feeling also, more like sunlight. i plan to buy a dual system for the next grow, just gotta get past christmas and get the car fixed:cry: so we can save some money. not too worried about this grow, as it is my first indoor and some crappy bagseed. next grow will be northern lights and ams, so plan to have one of those 600w hps/400w mh (total 1000w)

really, i suppose i was really looking for a comparison, wondering if anyone has ever done a comparisoon grow between the two. yeild, density, potency; that sort of thing

i have some flowering right now under 250 watt mh and they look great
i recently just got a 400 watt switchable digital system so ill find out how much more in difference itll make. but yeah buds still develop great with the bluer spectrum from mh
ive heard it can be a much better bud development when they get that extra lumens and that red

I have actually done a comparison between the two..

I've vegged and flowered in HPS.

I've vegged and flowered in MH

I've vegged in HPS flowered in MH

I've vegged in MH and flowered HPS.........

From my experience and you'll probably hate to hear this..but vegging in MH and then HPS is probably the "best" way to go.. but to tell you the truth your not going to be too dissapointed if you flower in MH..the buds will appear to be really dank looking then compared to the HPS, that is only due to the light spectrum that your eyes are used too...the crystals and the green leaves just seem to look so good underneath that cool light spectrum... your still going to yield something nice...think about it some people even considering flowering in CFL's.(weak! i wouldn't recommend it!) Goodluck!!

Well if your "financial issues" only allow you to flower under mh then thats the only choice you have even if someone posted some results that hps is better then mh. Either way your flowering with MH so deal with it.

It's not practical i don't know why either but if you want to find out then happily go do it yourself and if you discover something amazing then its also your choice to report back to us or keep it to youself.

GL!

I have used MHs for flowering many times with great results. When compared to identical strains under identical circumstances the differences are few. The thing I have noticed is that MHs produce tighter nugs and HPS produces heavier nugs, but a little looser in composition.

gogrow i think this theard might interest you, this guy uses a large MH for veg and flower. He posted many high quality pictures too! https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/24918-cloudflyer-grow-journal.html
thank you guys, you actually read the thread before you posted. thats the kind of answers i was looking for. +1 rep to the boths of ya:blsmoke:

as i stated in the opening post, i understand that hps is the current standard for flowering, b/c it produces more quantity. i only have a few plants and am not worried about quantity at the moment. if mh can produce better smoke but less smoke, then that is what i am shooting for on this grow... its shwag seed so quality improvement is the main goal here. my good seeds should be arriving soon, so next grow we will worry about quantity. i just wanted to see some pics and talk to a few people who have been open minded or broke enough to use mh, to see how much of a quantity difference i am losing, also how much, if any, quality improvement.

well said, and a great piece of info and advice. Theoretically and in practice, the critical aspect does seem to be lumens or light intensity. sub-optimum wavelength although important can be overcome by lumens. Another potential factor in Mh vs HPS is the MH has been shown to have measureably more uvb than HPS....though it remains questioned whether this is significant or not.

I have read that the optimum is 2MH for each HPS - and my thoughts now include a couple of side lighted 160W MegaRay UVB lamps. but that's for a future consideration as I complete my grow take a vacation and come home to start things anew.....good luck and I hope more people come on in and provide their views and experiences. :blsmoke::peace::blsmoke:
