Because we don't have a NEED for a .50 cal or larger. We should be happy we can still buy .50 cals and automatic weapons. Ok, yes, you're right. We don't NEED ANY weapons. But we can at least justify the proper use of anything smaller than a .50 cal. I think only bear hunting could use a .50 cal. But even then it's not necesary. Native Americans have killed bear with bow and arrow.

here's a fun fact about your beloved .50cal sniper; even if you take a shot at somebody's head and miss, the compression of a .50 round at that velocity is enough to kill you just by flying past it. it also takes down helicopters, plows through buildings and other fun stuff. it used to be illegal to use them on human targets in wartime, i guess civilian targets can take the bullet just fine.
right now if i took a kalashnikov, ar15, or an m4a1 into mexico, 30min after i pull into nogales i can get over 5 thousand dollars PER gun. "law abiding" citizens make straw purchases, sell them to certain people, then runners bring it to mexico. just as there is a flow of drugs into america where the money is just right to trickle down, the same applies for guns into mexico. i have friends that do this, i know what im talking about.

Why the hell not? That's one of the benefits of living in america. Sure, I can agree that explosives have no place in an urban area. But if someone lives in the country, and they want to blow shit up, and there's noone else around to get hurt, why the hell not?
The country's birthday is celebrated with explosives.

listen, my dads in iraq and before that he was a bounty hunter, guns have ALWAYS been a part of my childhood. i know all the warm and fuzzies you get from the recoil and the smell of gunpowder while tearing into a broken dryer in the desert, i know where you guys are coming from... but you have to understand the nature of the times we're living in. besides, do you really think obama will touch any gun laws before re-election? he knows that is the easiest way to lose votes from a group of people who prolly dont wanna give him that much of a chance. yall have nothin to worry about for a few years...

And then I go on to say that less than a .50 cal can be justified. Anything larger cannot; which is why it is taken away or never given. Electricity, indoor plumbing, sugar, cars and everything else we have are not taken away because they ALL can be justified... Automatic weapons, RPGs, explosives cannot be justified in the hands of John Q. Public.

Agreed. I guess he doesn't watch the news and seen that idiot that tried to bomb times square in a van. He may have succeeded if explosives were just readily available for purchase at the local gas station.
The fact that it was slightly more difficult than that (and he's actually an idiot), he failed and no one was hurt or killed.
