if your growing in a hydro setup...BUY floronectar/ Botanicare SWEET/ SOMETHING like that...anything else in a hydro setup will produce nasty mirco byproducts

It won't work. I'm not sure molasses will work either; it's just one of those things that got started as gospel truth, passed around and now it's "fact". According to one master gardener on here, it does nothing.

You raise a good point! Too many people think that molasses is a magic elixer or some kind of "Super Nutrient". While it does have some nutrient value, the main advantage of using it is just that it "feeds" the herd of micro-organisms in the soil. Then they, in turn, can convert the soil nutrients to something the plant can actually utilize! It's not a magic cureall - it just makes the soil healthy!

Niceness. I thort when plants flower they start to take sugar and starch from the soil also and this is what part molasses plays?

Thats not why we use mollasses, we use it to help microbes in the soil that make uptake of nutrients easier for the plant through their process of "digestion". It is also supposed to have some nutrients that are already in an easier to use state and are useful when flushing. I'm not saying mollasses is the best thing to ever happen to growing or anything, but i definetley see results and so do lots of others, thats why we use it.

i've used molasses in the past, and it really reaks havoc on the ph of my soil for sure.. i think it has caused me more problems with the ph of the soil than it did good for me, so i've stopped using it all together, and i've stopped having lockout problems and the like and don't think i will go back to using it.. ever.. i don't know where the molasses bs comes from, but to me, its a bunch of wifes tails.. i agree with the above posters, get something like botainicares sweet or something along those lines that is made specifically for plants instead mollases.. this is just my $.o2 worth though.. take it for what's its worth..

Actually if you do some research you will find that 90% of all MJ flower nutes are based on molasses from beet production so I would say it does have value as a nutrient.

That is a very good thought about the microbugs feeding on the mole asses. As far as plants taking up sugar, they don't; plants ONLY uptake inorganic compounds.
