Good morning my fellow puffers !
First of let me note that, the title of this thread as per the question,is not my own. I have my theories ... on the subject but am interested in yous.
I read quite a bit , cause that is how I feed my brain ... and during my morning surf ... I have stumbled upon this article ... from a given page ... with the title at hand.
Please allow me to quote an excerpt for your viewing pleasure ... and if you would like to contribute with your insight on the subject .... please don't be shy, as this is the perfect forum for such discussion.
Am I the only person who thinks marijuana gradually diminishes a person's personality?
I've smoked pot in the past, and I've noticed a few poignant but surmountable changes. But I've also had dozens of friends who smoked damn near constantly, and every last one of them has that glazed, wide-eyed look. They become kind of twitchy, they talk in short, punctual sentences, they have that type of nervous giggle.
Basically, though my experiences with pot have been amazingly positive, I've noticed that, almost without fail, my peers who do the drug regularly slowly become zombies. Does anybody else have a similar opinion, or think that mine is garbage?

Are you observing the effects of the drug or the effects of the culture? Many heavy smokers buy into the stupid stoner culture. In my experience it's totally optional. I've known lots of heavy smokers who have great personalities. (artists, intellectuals) If your friends are acting that way it's probably because that's how they want to act. An interesting thing about the prohibition of pot is our perception of its social effects are based on the people who are the most open about it. That tends to be stupid stoner types. There's a whole world of people who use pot out there that don't really advertise it so our perception of its social effects are skewed.
Hear, hear. My cannabis consumption varies from weekly to near-daily depending on circumstances, and I've been consuming for over a decade. The same is true of most of my social circle- we get together on the weekends, and whether at home, at bars, at dinners or receptions... we usually end up high.
We also happen to be extremely high-functioning professionals. Physicians, surgeons, lawyers, engineers, and academics. I graduated summa cum laude from both my undergraduate degree and my medical degree, and I smoked recreationally throughout that time.
If I tried to generalize the effects of weed based on the people I've had contact with, I would assume that it drives you toward professional disciplines. The OP's observations reflect more on his microculture than on cannabis itself.
Edit: someone wanted verification. It's the best I can do given my current photographic capabilites. If you squint, you can read "first class honours" in the upper left, and "zig zag" in the lower left.
