i would prefer not to use a stick because i want the roots to have all the space they can, plus it just isn't the best way imo. what i do is tie a string around where the base of the weight is (usually around halfway up the trunk), pull it till the plant is upright and just duct tape that bitch to the side of the pot. i have also done this with several twisty ties twisted together instead of string. It's kind of a pain in the ass to clean off after the grow but as long as you get the plant upright it doesn't matter. I just end up using more tape the next grow. you can use duct tape and string, attatch something to the pot and attatch the string to that, whatever. as long as it's not something so stiff or abrasive that it will damage the trunk it's all set. The plant will still grow, and if you're blessed with plants that are just so friggin heavy they start to tip again you can do this as many times as you need to. i have had plants that by the time they finished they had a small jungle of strings holding the trunk up or tying tops down, it's fine. the plants will appreciate you.
