stunted growth

my plant's been growing for a little over 2 months and its budding great but it is only about 5.5 inches tall. its getting about 9-10 hours of light a day. is that enough lack of sunlight to be causing it to have a stunt in growth?

If not, what else may be the cause? Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Many things can lead to stunted growth.

Speaking matter of factly. It's hard to detect sarcasm/humor when not actually talking to someone in person, and quite frankly, I'm not going to add "/sarcasm" or any of that other junk on to my posts. Only thing on my shoulder is a shirt :dunce: Seriously though, that is a small pic with a small plant in it. We both know a better pic is needed to try to help him out. And fyi, i WAS working on a rather big info article/thread to post concerning MH lighting for veg, but am temporarily giving up on it due graphs not working quite right yet and I'm freakin tired.
Sorry to come off as a know it all man, that's not my intention. I def. don't know it all, I've made mistakes, and i expect i'll make more eventually..on the quest to know-it-all;) lol

DT, can you describe how you grew your baby? Lighting conditions, nutes, soil, etc? maybe then we can all chip in so you know what to do better next time.
(i fully expect to catch some flak for this post too)

lol. well, i recieved it from a friend who found it growing by itself near a public lake. when it was pulled out and given to me, it was about 3.5 inches, so I am not positive on how long it had been growing before I recieved it. I myself have been growing it for about 2 months now. it has been growing outside the entire time, and it recieves about 9-10 hours of sunlight a day, due to obstructions in my backyard, and not wanting it to be anywhere else for wandering eyes. i am giving it mircle-gro house food plant with chelated iron. i chose to use this because my plant was having a lack of phoshate and as soon as i started adding it, it took off. im just giving it regular old soil unfortunetly. I water it basically once a day.

sorry for the spelling errors.

Yeah, better pics would be much appreciated. I wonder if it might have gotten too much shock when it got transplanted or if it could have just been a runt from the get go? It lived though, and you got yourself some bud, so you have been doing something right. Pat on the back deserved.

I'm looking specifically at the three types of MH (standard, pulse start, & ceramic pulse start) and comparing pros/cons of each but ehhh, i'm not feeling to compelled to finish the damn thing, cause it's turning into a powerpoint dam near lol Maybe i'll finish it by the time LED's come down in price
Oh, DT, you said you water it almost once a day, you may be over watering for starters. Does the soil get dry on top before you water?

In the future i would not touch any plants you found, unless you own the land and someone is guerilla growing on it or something. It may or may not have been intentionally planted but its one of those things its not worth taking the chance on.
anyway, yikes. youve got some research ahead of you, heres a few points you'll want to look into-
watering, cannabis need wet dry cycles, overwatering will greatly reduce growth of the root system and result in stunted growth.
soil and nutes, if you grow in the future your going to want some good soil and nutes, foxfarm and advanced nutrients are both very popular.
light cycles, Where do you live? if the days are getting longer its going to revery to vegging again unless you cover it somehow so it gets a full 12 hrs of dark everyday..

just from the looks of it I could guess a few things. lack of nutes N and P, lack of light.

wow thats all alot of info thanks. and yes, i do wait until the top of the soil is completly dry before adding more water. I live in southern california, normally we get lots of sunlight but recently weve had lots of cloudy days so it has had less.

but i can definetly try to lessen the amount of water i am giving it. my biggest problem is i had no preparation for growing this plant because it just kinda got dropped into my lap. i didnt have anything to do with the plant being pulled out of the grown by the lake. my friend had already done it then asked me if i wanted to take care of it. i figured it would have a better chance at surviving with me than with him lol.

i will definetly be getting better pics of it tomorrow.

lol and i appreciate that, thanks. i have thought about the shock of it, and i dunno, that could be a good reason why also.

plant2 001.jpgplant 002.jpgplant2 003.jpgokay, this is my baby. my friend who found it said he believes it to be a strain of purple nurple. im not so sure, but none the less im happy with the results. just want to solve its height problem

By Fix the height issue what do you mean? she's not gonna get any taller really, she looks to be past the stretch phase of flowering. where do you live though? Like i said light times are what determines budding and all that and if the light cycle is getting longer she's gonna stop budding and start vegging again.
