After a 4 Month Cure: AK-47 and White Widow

Towards the end of October I harvested 8 White Widow and 7 AK-47 plants I had been growing from clones under a 400w HPS. Unfortunately I was growing in July and had a bit of a mold problem, so i ended up losing around 1/3 of my harvest. No worries, I had enough bud to last me months.

After harvesting I hang-dried the buds for a few days then jar-cured for about 3 weeks before I had to travel. I left them in a dark, cool and dry place (under my bed) and ended up being away for 4 months in a country where RIU is blocked...

My biggest concern when I was away was that I'd return to my cured buds only to find a white cloud of mold LOL.

To my pleasant surprise, that wasn't the case at all... :weed:

So yeah, I'm happy to be home

I'm so glad to be growing again. It's as much fun as blazing the crop :blsmoke:

Thanks for the rep.

that place happens to be home, Saudi Arabia (though I've been living on my own in Switzerland since i was 13).

The buds are very different.

AK-47: more of a cerebral "high" than a stone. Perfect for listening to and making music, wake'n'bake, etc. For some reason this weed is best enjoyed outdoors. It has a unique woody and spicy taste with a sweet exhale. Definitely my favorite bud that I've grown, which is why I decided to go with Blue Russian for my current grow.

White Widow: honestly I will admit this strain is kinda overrated. It looks better than the AK, but I find it lacking in flavor (and I grow organically in soil) and the stone, while strong, is kind of "generic" for lack of a better word. Wouldn't grow it again, and would probably avoid "white" strains. Don't believe the hype.

Good info on the White Widow.

But yeah dude I LOVED that AK-47. I got a zip like a year ago and it was way sticky, and smelled spicy and woody like you said. But with overtones of pineapple/tropical taste/smell

How much better does it taste and smoke with such a long cure?

Thanks for the rep.

Honestly the smoke is soooooo smooth. I don't feel the flavor has improved significantly (compared to a 1-month cure) but any earthy or "green" taste has been reduced. The chlorophyll must have broken down greatly over that period.

It's worth it if you want an ultra-smooth smoke, but I'm sure you can achieve the same results with a 2-month cure.

It burns perfectly and evenly, and the ash is powdery soft.

Correct on widow, but not white strains. Grow out white russian and i garuntee you, its a harsh smoke but it packs a pretty interesting punch and really has flavour.

I've been wanting to try AK-47. I want the up sativa high with a shorter grow time. I've heard they are very productive as well. I've been growing white rhino, lemon skunk, big bang along with super silver haze and hawaiian snow. The first three are done 3 to 4 weeks before the ssh & hs. I want feminized seed, who do you recommend buying your ak47 from?

Wow i wish i had the patiants to wait that long :) as i noob i really do think that the drying curing is the hardest part to master!

Plus rep for some great shots of some sticky iky bud, i have some bubblegum seeds and from what i read the longer you cure it the more fruity it tastes so i think ill wait till i have a supply before i grow them out as i really want to be smoking some bubblegum weed that has been cured properly.

Nice accidental cure by the way. Nuthin better than a finely cured bud. Totally changes the the end result. I've also heard it can take up to six months on sum strains before they are at their max state of curedness. I believe it was subcool that said this. And I've noticed myself that after the two month mark shit gets smoother and tastier by the day.

Chek ya later,
Thumbz:eyesmoke:

Well I'd say go with Serious Seeds; the original. But they don't do feminized (which I don't mind at all).

It's a very productive plant. Even though all my AK-47's had a mould problem and had to chop off most of the main colas, they still yielded more than the White Widow!

Highly recommend this classic.

Just make sure you go easy on the nutes with Bubblegum and flush early. I learnt the hard way...
