i had a very same situation like a 1 1/2 yrs ago...

first of all im working on my english, so i hope i can explain my self hah

i moved from tijuana to mexicali to study in university.... so that was my very first grow, i didnt knew of GC by then...

Mexicali is near Calexico, CA so u can imagine the temps!! and low humidity
so i rented a house , and i bought 4 t12 lights... i hanged them in WOOD (first error) ..

so one day i bought a resistance (is a curly piece of metal connected to 120 V to warm the water) to evaporate water and create some humidity.

and i just let it all day, and at night i totally forgot about it... had a bowl fell asleep inthe couch in living room zZz... i woke up like at 2 or 3 to go to my room but i was all sleepy just went straight to bed..

and suddenly i wope up like at 5 am ( i never do that) and saw all my room full of a black and dense smoke.... i first that it was a nightmare or something hah...

then i realize and went check the grow room and it was all on fire!!! the fire started like 10 or 15 minutes earlier cause my room was in the other side of the house..... but there is a vent there so i think all the smoke spread to house by that vent in the grow room.

i quickly took a garden hose that was outside, and i was able to stop the fire.... the smoke was so dense, i was breathing all that shit, i my eyes were all closed. it was all dark for the smoke...
then a neighbor told me that the fire department was in their way... FFUUUCKK!!!!!!!

all the plants were burned, also a big lasko fan dissapeared.... the big 200 gal dispenser where the resistance was submerged... was gone, also the paint of the wall was oil-base or something like that... and the fire spreaded so fast!!!!

there were 2 pots remaining they just burned 60%

it was all hot and i was on my naked feet, took all the suspicios chit left (timers, pots, and a lot of soil) and put them under the zink.... i left the light hanger tho... to loong and it was stucked with other thing that melted on it.....

so first the fire department came, with THE COPS, and i was all shakin haha, i was alone that day, my roomate was in tijuana that weekend, anyways the fire department checked the circuits inside the ceiling and they were ok, so they figured the shortcut came from something inside...

i told them the light were there because we wash clothes in the 200 gal that melted down.... and also my roomie was studyng architecture, and i told them that he need lots of light to his drwas and shit... cause the room is big and the shitty light doesnt work for him.

they eat all those stories and left..... fuck i could be now in JAIL at least 10-15 years here in mexico for growing marijuana, depends on how many plants....

i think the resistance got sooo hot, because its just a piece of metal without temp. regulator, and made a shortcut and then all the wood burned down...

the fire was so intense!!, the windows in the kitchen and rooms near that growroom cracked down!!!, a big light hanger in the kitchen melted and hit the ground.... and the kitchen that lamp ita like 10 meters away!!!

i also cheked my house from outside i saw a VERY BIG COLUMN OF SMOKE haha shit u can see that from far away!! xD

so anyways after all that shit was done i just sat on the couch and had a big fat joint, i was still shakin and shocked!!

i still think i was lucky because i could be in jail right now, i read in the newspaper, people getting caught with 2 or 3 plants in their yards and get 5-8 years :S

i know u were lucky !! haha yeah

whats up anycolor...yea that was an interesting story. you too are a lucky mo-fo! another adjuster came by today with an independent fire investagator (private firm) he agreed that it was the electric co. fault, so now i get a check!!!And no....im not gonna start another garden any time soon. were gonna take the settlement $$$ and move out to the country.Plus, i need a few items to get back in the game. I still cant believe i got so lucky. my karma was good to me huh?.....later..........

i came off like an ass i would like to apologize grow plenty , you are lucky that your 70 year old house didn't catch along with the shed , and no one was hurt .......rob
