So im gettin ready to grow in corn fields cuz i live around like 50 of them...

ive heard theres two types of fields: Sweet corn and animal feed type of corn fields.
The sweet corn gets harvested earlier like end of august, but the feed corn stays out til october.

anyone know how to tell the difference betweeen them?? i need to find LOTS of animal feed maize fields!!!!

i frown upon growing ina corn field because for 1. its very easy to see a pot plant it a corn field. the corns in rows and theres just an obvious out of place plant. and 2. the tall corn blocks out alot of sun resuliting in poor development of the lower branches. and 3. most farmers ive met arent pot heads and wouldnt kill them plants dead.
my recomendation is there there are usually wooded brushy areas in between different farmers lands. unless your in iowa or somthing then theres no trees lol. plant in there they would blend in alot better and you wouldnt have to worry about the harvesting times interfering

Another thing you have to deal with is ROUND UP
Some of the farmers use corn that is made so that the farmer can spray round up on the feild and will kill everything but the special corn. Plant in the fence or tree rows

Word on that! The Iowa corn is about knee high and I was going to put out a few plants just for the hell of it (Feed corn field). Then I saw the farmer going through and spraying the hell out of the field again...Definitely a round up ready field.

I really wouldn't recommend growing in a corn field. Your plot is really easy to detect from the air, it's difficult to defend it from deer, and you never know when the corn is going to be harvested unless you know the farmer. Try finding a nice place in a forest instead.

u can easily tell the difference sweet corn isnt grown ion huigh feilds. seed corn and animal corn is. seed corn is for animal food and is harvested in october, and seed corn gets detassled. the animal corn only has male plants in rows not spaced apart. seed corn has male and female plants and there planted in rows of three 2 rows of female and 1 row of male in the middle. so if u see a corn feild with rows of three then stay away from growing in there
