What is the best 400w MH & HPS bulb you can get?

Just like It say's guys let me in on your experience's with bulbs and reviews Gonna start 2nd grow need top of line.

Hortilux makes some awesome HPS bulbs. As far as MH goes, just go to your local home improvement store and buy one for $24 USD.

Sounds good My MH bulb had a melting spot in it so I'm trying to get it replaced. Hortilux 430w sounds like a good one.

I just bought a hortilux super hps bulb. Granted they cost 60 dollars instead of 20. It says on the box you get 5000 more lumens compaired to normal bulbs.

What you mean the cheap one is best, I know a cheap MH bulb will work but for flowering you think a cheap one will get the same outcome, I'm just trying to get past all the bullshit with bulbs, Enlighten me a little.

Hortilux is top of the line. Any MH will do, sunmaster is a budget bulb thats pretty reliable.

I have seen some 'cheap' around the net when it comes to lighting, from Neon decorative signs to Malwart hot desk lamps. If you value bud, don't go cheap

I second the Hortilux, yeah it's a little more expensive but the blue/red combination is great and they last longer than Agrosun bulbs. I have a 600 super hps and it kicks ass.

I second the Hortilux, yeah it's a little more expensive but the blue/red combination is great and they last longer than Agrosun bulbs. I have a 600 super hps and it kicks ass.

Ya I hear you there on the agrosun I had a MH bulb of there's and it deformed in the middle on the hot spot of the bulb, but it could of been from my first hood that wasn't air cooled. But I contacted the store where I got the bulb and they are gonna replace it so that's good. Ya I'm hearing everyone's comments and hortilux is the way to go I believe. Gonna go with the 430w HPS! Can't wait for second grow with all the knowledge Ive learned over my first grow, Gonna be 4 plants SCROG in FF soil, Pineapple Chunk, Vanilla Kush, Kings Kush, and LA Woman.

I would say if we are talking strictly 400w:
For MH I am using the SolarMax Veg 7200k and would highly recommend it.
For HPS I would go with the Ushio Hi Lux Opti-Red 56,000 Lumens and 2100k

I'm using Hortilux all the way. More expensive, but isn't it worth it for the top quality? Hortilux Blue 400w MH for veg, Hortilux 400w HPS for flower. The super blue spectrum on the blue MH is amazing!

Yeah, I was going to use that as well but was too freaked about the problems they were having with the Lumatek Digital ballasts. Otherwise, hell yes. I'm real happy with what I'm using though - excellent results.
