Growing with a topsy turvy.....

have a friend running a journal as a test with one of these things now his kids got it for him so he figured what the hell he would give it a try and the plant is in flower and the journal has many pics. because all these forums act like linking to other sites is a sin i cant post up fellas sorry but i will say all the plant did is what any tied down lst plant would do, grow towards the light!!!

those things are cool i think well for tomato's never seen them used for mj but im sure they could be effective however they are not intended to let light through to the roots this is a bad idea!! you never want to expose your roots to light they do not like it!!! your roots simply take up nutrients to your plant and the green portion of your plant ie everything above the ground uses light to create energy through photosenthisis.i would love to see how one of these works with mj please let me know if you do decide to try it.

Do you know why those plants have no fan leaves? this is a cool idea that setup doesnt seem like a very efficiant use of light to me tho what do you think?

lol whatever flour there are some hanging i think in that first pic but if you look past those youll see the whhite buckets...
jay, that guys plants all looked that way with the shriveled to almost no leaves. he was doing something wrong there but im just showing that it works to hang up buckets. where are the root exposed to the light? if you mean at the top of the bucket then just put a lid on the bucket. you realize their in soil right?

Wow... If you do a search on here for "topsy turvy" you will get many threads. This is in no way a new idea on here lol. Some have had success, others none. Basically the mj plants try to get at the light no matter what, so the plants end up bending toward the light; not growing down.

oh no man that wasn't directed at your post i was letting the og poster of this thread that it's alway's a bad idea to expose your roots to light.
purple- I know they are always going to try to get to the light i think that the idea behind this is to water directly to the newer roots of the plant at the bottom or this case the top of the bucket

My tomatoes have always grown up the side of the topsey and begin to grow downward as they get HUGE. But I'm just sayin the MJ plant in the real topsey is growing just like the maters do. You could go hang these in trees in the woods. Eleminates a lot of bug problems too.

They are not trying to grow to the light. They are trying to grow to the sky. Seriously have you'll ever looked a vertical grow? The light is mount in the center of the room - BESIDE the plants. They all grow UP towards the ceiling. Cannabis is a vertically growing "tree", it will not hang like a vine. It defies gravity until it breaks the stalk.

The MJ plant will respond to being hung upside down by trying to grow upwards regardless of where the light is placed, this is called negative geotropism. Unless you have some way of reversing gravity there is nothing you can do about this unless you are a whizzkid with plant hormones!

Whoa there turbo; we're on the same page. I have a topsy turvy with a tomatoe plant in my garden, so I was assuming this was outdoors. With the tomatoe, the plant grows straight down, but after reading some threads on here i found mj does not. So when I said light, I obviously meant sun/sky, sorry for the confusion. Yes, Ive seen many verticle grows on here.

This homie's right light will fuck up your roots. Think about it bro roots are supposed to be in the GROUND in the dark pretty much. I'm pretty sure darknes in the soil is what tells your stem to create new roots when you top the soil off in your pot. Any part of the lower stem that is covered with soil will start new roots, like a tomato.

They do just grow upwards. the stalk bends around in a arc fashion, wasting time on stem groth that coudelve been spent better. Ive have heardf this from a few first hand accounts, but give it a try and tell us what happened.

Yea sorry I wasn't meaning to be a dick just trying to make a point before he wasted his time. Especially since everyone else seemed to be so assured it would work, but really just hadn't looked into the issues. But if you notice though in the omega it still grows in a vertical orientation, it takes gravitropism a bit to set in, but it is what the name implies controlled by gravity. Branches and leaves can shift and orient themselves for light but the main stalk will always try to orient itself to a vertical position.

i have 3 of these hanging in trees in the woods, they are in milk jugs with a hole in the bottom. they grow up-ward, the get very bushy, very bush, i plan to try to hang them in high trees they are not very well exposed to light atm, imo ithink they are douing very well, it is worth a try, thisis my first try at it, but i put 2 growing out the top and 3 out the bottom, the bottom ones are doing much better than the top. it is a fun experiment.

This was our tt from last year. this thing grew like crazy. we started with a ft tall clone then it grew all summer. it just branched out and it reached for the sky. it was absolutely amazing. then it got ripped a week before harvest. devastating
