DAY 35 UPDATE
New pics, commentry to come later, 3rd pic is from front row left to right - Sweet Tooth babie(left), Bagseed right. Middle row is from Vanilla kush left, sweet tooth right, back row is Lemon skunk left sweet tooth right. All plants still doing good. Did not get AC yet the store was out of stock. Newly planted is White Russian, Northern Lights#5, Wembley, and Rockalock. Room smells good when you enter but outside room is no smell yet. Plants range in age of two weeks to 4 weeks old.

So here is a little mini-update - no pics again sorry

Ok guys well had a little accident last night and the plants ended up getting 9 hours of darkness at their lights out hopefully this doesnt upset them

We installed a curtain to seperate veg from flower side, we installed another ballast shelf on the other side of the room for the flowering ballasts, Plants are now closer to the light and light is more even, 26 inches from the canopy currently, we made the light a lot more easier to adjust with some new chains, we also installed an airstone and pump in are water resovoir to keep it oxygenated which will be especially good for preparing some organic teas, all plants are roughly the same height now actually, vanilla kush is catching up quick. Now when I say rougly I mean within 7 inches of eachother, basically what I am getting at is they are all mature adult plants at this point.

The really really good news - yea I actually got some sweet tooth buds , now this is not my first time smoking sweet tooth by any means its a common strain in this area but actually the first time having a significant quanity of my own, very happy been smoking schwagg, paid 320 an ounce and it is top top quality buds usually go for about 400 an ounce most places or more so very happy with this, it has that unmistakable sweet tooth taste mmm mmm very stoney indicia buzz. Patients love it. I met the grower of it and talked with him about growing the strain and he has nothing but good things to say, he said he has grown many strains over the years and is always trying new ones but Sweet Tooth is his go to strain and that he has convinced many of his grower buddies of the same.

Happy to report that all the seedlings broke soil, one of the sweet tooth plants had some yellowing for awhile but it has went away except some of the bottom leaves...looks like she will be ok...since the last pic update there is roughly 6 inches of growth in each plant so things look really good, the lemon skunk is a little over a foot tall and so is our biggest sweet tooth. I think the largest sweet tooth has pre-flowers on it I am not totally 100% but its just small places of growth at the nodes that have not changed in many days (no pistils). Its getting about that time to flower some of these plants we are looking at less than 2 weeks untill we install the high pressure sodium lamps, We are likely keeping our large sweet tooth in veg for quite some time as she has many branches that should be good for cloning and is the healthiest of them all, The sativa dominant plants like the lemon skunk and bagseed will be among the first to see flowering More pic updates soon.

Ok well regarding the "yellowing" my patient was talking about on the one sweet tooth plant, Upon further investigation what it looks like is that the plant is pretty light green I am thinking it needs food so I am going to feed both the large sweet tooth tommorow because they both look a bit pale. This will be the first feeding in this grow aside from the soil amendments. All the other plants look fine and I think are borderline being burnt if anything at this time.

I am not sure what food I will use possible some fish emolation if I dont have time to make it to a hydro store / When I do make it to the hydro store I am going to get a full feeding program.

Anyway I am pretty sure I hit this right on the head it is definitly lacking NITROGEN - Odd its the ones in the miracle grow organic lacking the nitrogen although it has been almost a month and a half, but the smallest sweet tooth in the green pot is clearly nitrogen deficiency (stunted growth, light green, lower leaves turning yellow).

The good news I just moved near the growop so I no longer need to drive hours to take care of the plants so I will now be able to monitor them very closely many times each day as opposed to only every 1 to 3 days.

[Update - Day 43]

Two plants are 42 days in VEG - most plants are around 30 days in veg with the exception of our 4 new seedling.

Picked up a few things today

-Lumatek 600W Digital Ballast WOOT - Yea we are going with 600W instead of 1000W lights for the rest of the lights in this grow!
-Fox Farm Grow Big Quart - First feeding is tommorow for most plants - Almost got Sensi Grow A & B but most of our nutrients during veg will be from soil and we wont be using a lot so went the cheaper route.
-Some Calibration for my digital PH tester so we can see the PH of the water since we are now using Nutrients

So yeah basically we got the light instead of the AC for now, The AC is still in our budget but its been pushed back to next week. Adding the additional box fan to the room has kept it cool and its been a pretty cool week so temps have not been a problem its been 80F-88F so I thought we could go another week no problem and went ahead and got a 600W ballast, the plants are not showing signs of heat stress I beleive they actually like these temps, aside from the nitrogen defeciant Sweet tooth growth has sped up dramatically since we moved the light even closer. Just FYI the budget for this project is about 400$ every 2 weeks for this year to get this thing on its feet so we do have co2 and many other things coming, we are going to buy some case packs of bulbs for the distance future etc....

Can you spot the nitrogen deficiant plants? Pretty obvious isnt it? You know, this being my first indoor grow I questioned the idea of having so many variables but since I have multiple soil mixes and strains I think in a sense it actually makes it easier to identify problems in some ways, in some ways its just the opposite.

The tallest plants are around 12" in tall including the lanky sativa dom lemon skunk and the indicia dom sweet tooth. The widest plant lis around 15" in width and thats our largest sweet tooth, we are likely to take clones from this sweet tooth soon, going to let it recover from the nitrogen problem first. It has female pre-flower with no pistils yet but these are likely to appear in the coming days especially as it recovers.

We need to move our lights so they are on at night to help temps, we will be moving the light up an hour each day, hopefully it wont cause hermi city or something, Any suggestions on this? Is this the general accepted way of doing this or should we do something like move the lights on to 24 hours for a few days and then slowly add 1 hour of dark per day at the end of each day as to shorten the days to 18 hours a day..Currently lights come on at 4:30AM and go off at 9:30PM...we want to get the dark so it is between noon and 6pm

[Mini- UPDATE]

First time in this grow feeding nutrients other than what is already in the soil.

So I fed all the plants fox farms grow big - 50% recommended dosage for the Sweet Tooth with nitrogen deficiency and 20% or less for the rest of them. I gave the Lemon skunk only about 10% since it seems a bit sensitive.

Hopefully they like it..I feel like the smallest most ill sweet tooth was very eager to suck it up, I noticed transpiration instantly after watering and it seemed to perk up a bit. Although it is very hot out there 84 already yikes..Well this begins my journey of actually living near my plants, I will have much more time to observe and care for them now - 200 page growlog Incoming

[DAY 44]

Again two plants are 43 days old (the two in green pots) from seed, the rest of the plants are 5 to 15 days younger than these two.


The SWEET tooth is still showing nitrogen deficiency signs I will be feeding it more often than the others and giving it 25% more recommended dosage putting it at 75% recommended dosage. Next feeding will be tomorrow or the next day. The rest of the plants responded well to the feed we have no nute burn they will be stepped up to 50%. They all continue to grow at an appropriate rate of about 4 inches per day. I am using FOXFARMS GROW BIG solely - first nutes for these plants aside from soil amendments was yesterday morning.

Tomorrow or the next day will adjust light a little bit higher or possibly lst or FIM the lemon skunk as its rapidly growing in height so much that it is about a foot from the light right now while the second tallest plant is still roughly 17 inches from light.

Vanilla kush is really starting to take form(front center) - Lemon skunk incredible vertical growth (front left) - The youngest sweet tooth at around 27 days old has branches with several nodes and is growing much more rapidly then her cousins in the crappy miracle grow (back right) - Bagseed looks okay starting to form new branches (back left) - Our sickly sweet tooth with nitrogen deficiency growth is stunted its about two weeks behind I figure (front right) - Our large bushy sweet tooth also has nitrogen deficiency but not nearly as severe as its growth has not been stunted (back middle)

[Day 45]

Well - say goodbye nitrogen problems, the - all new growth on the sick plants are as green as they should be and the entire plant seems to have gotten a little more greener - yea I said new growth, the sickest babie sweet tooth that was stunted has started growing again. Amazing growth on all plants over only 24 hours. Vanilla Kush Is really kickin ass now especially I think it has hit a growth spurt...Soil was already fully dry so I went ahead and watered and fed them all 50% rec dosage of FoxFarms Grow BIG. Really happy with the GROW BIG so far its quality stuff, the plants love it and its pretty clean and doesn't stink...The Lemon Skunk is RAPIDLY approaching 2ft in height I am going to need to do something.

As for the seedlings, well the white persian is a little nute burnt, All seedlings are in straight foxfarm OC and I have been warned a lot about it burning seedlings but on the other hand I see people do it and talk about doing it all time with no problems so I thought I would give it a shot for myself..It appears maybe strain dependent at this point, makes sense since White Persian I am told is sensitive to nutrients. I will be putting seedlings under the metal halide soon, I have said it before and Ill say it again but this is the last time I use CFL unless for cloning at least with these bulbs - absolutely terrible growth rate compared to metal halide what a waste of time for me to put those seedlings under those bulbs again, maybe its just my bulbs 5500K not the usual 6500K people use but they really suck bad lol (+REP If you see me using these bulbs again and can quote this)..honestly I am not to excited about white persian indoors anyway last thing I want is another sativa dom like this lemon skunks (dont tell the lemon skunk I said that lol)

Ok guys just a mini-update here.....Everything is going really well with the plants but we have some really important news on the legal side of things just a general summary: I have been rapidly getting new patients and soon we are going to need to introduce a lot of plants to this garden in about 4 months once they have all their cards officially. we are going to basically fill the room up in 4 months, We can add 27 more plants currently and still be within the law but for the rest of the patients we need to wait for 4 months until they get their cards.

So we have a lot to think about, I was only going to be doing Indicia dominant plants but now we have 2 patients that are really set on Train Wreck, they say its the only thing that helps them, with much of the patients feeling a fondness toward a particular strain(mostly sativa dominants ugh) we are going to be stuck having a garden with many different strains. Working with so many strains proves to be a difficult task as far as keeping the light at the optimal distance its a constant struggle in addition to giving proper nutrients. I really want to avoid using smaller pots and using less veg time growing smaller plants in a "sea of green" - no I want character and big beautiful plants with lush green foliage - To accomplish this I am considering doing vertical hanging lights and much more lighting - maybe not - its just something to really think about in this grow. If anyone has any advice or ideas I would be really happy to hear them and take them into consideration.


As far as the near future - on friday or monday the new light should be arriving - we will be taking clones of the sweet tooth and putting the majority of the plants into flowering under 600W HPS

I am highly considering transplanting the 2 sweet tooth that is in miracle grow into 5 gallon buckets with new soil (fox farm ocean forest)
