Is this White Widow?

seldom can you look at a grow and tell what the strain is. you can tell whether it is predominantly sativa or indica, but there is way too many different strains to be able to pinpoint it.

those def look sativa like, its possible its a white widow cross or something, but i cant tell you much more than that, since its nearly impossible to tell from pics what strain it really is. where did you get the seeds?

those plants , particularily on the far right cola and the general bud formation and leaf-to-calyx ratio look more like strong sativa dominants than hybrids IMO; although some seed banks stock white widows that around 60% sativa so they could possibly be ww. i have a dinafem white widow in 7 weeks flowering atm and it has super chubby leaves

They are supposed to be ww, seeds from a seed bank. I thought the huge pistil ratio and the "white" color is why it is called White Widow. Trichs are starting to get cloudy, still not a lot of smell. Day 45 in flower. How much longer do you guys think?

yeah they turn white when they frost up with glands. the bud i showed you was purple, cuz it was in my greenhouse. a few cold nights will make ur buds purple up. i think you need to go at least 4 more weeks. sativa doms. take forever.

Strains can really only be identified by taking someone's word for it. Seed banks aren't always reliable sources of info because who are their customers going to complain to if the bank is just lying about what they have to increase sales? Growing is illegal worldwide except for a few areas. Also, there isn't a grower in the world that could walk through a room with every strain and get even half of them right off of sight and smell alone. They could say, "Oh that's mostly Indica/Sativa. It's probably one of these kinds...", but the strains are very closely related. It's like trying to determine what kinds of dogs a mut had for parents without any info other than seeing the mut. Certain muts could very reasonably be the product of 100s of different combinations of breeds.

I would love to see a breeding history of strains for marijuana, but unfortunately, I have a feeling that information has been long lost over time.

Dinafem's White Widow is one of the White Widow strains that is mostly indica so the wide leaves would of course make total sense. Green Label Seeds made a White Widow that is 70% sativa and that is the highest percentage of sativa in a White Widow strain that I have ever heard of.

I finished another run of Mr. Nice Seeds Nevilles Haze recently and according to the breeder information it is "about 3/4 sativa" and not one of my plants looked as sativa-like as the plants pictured in the first message of this thread. That of course does not mean the plants have to have a higher percentage of sativa in them than Nevilles Haze. Mr. Nice Seeds Nevilles Haze X Mango has less sativa in it than Nevilles Haze but it looks more sativa so it is anyone's guess as to what percentage of sativa the plants have in them ... but they do somewhat resemble some old school sativas I used to grow.

I guess that would depend on how detailed of breeding information you might like to see and also if you would consider it to be reliable. You can always follow the link below and find strain lineage and genealogy information. It is general in nature so it might not be enough for you but other than seeing what are closely held secrets by some breeders I doubt most people will ever have the opportunity to see more.

Example - your White Widow information. It only says Brazil X India and Unknown White Widow X Unknown White Widow. That is about as vague as one could be.

Hiya fella,

Im not convinced it is a white widow, a close up of the buds would help but as someone said earlier it is nigh on impossible to identify a strain by eyesight alone. :?
:idea:All you can do is look for that strains traits and try and identify them on your plant, ww of course is renound for the amount of trichs, this might be an indication but certainly no guarantee.

Good luck though fella, they still look good.:hump:

The pics are of my current dinafem ww, im guessing about 4-6 weeks left, we'll wait and see on that one though lol

peace out bro!

MMMM, looking very nice fella. well done on that grow.

Mickey,
you can see that there is a world of difference between my Dinafem ww and Bobbyhopefeild's, it just go's to back up the theory that you cant really tell just by looking.

good luck

Here's the best way to tell..... Wait until the lights have been on a couple hours so she's wide awake and had a chance to have her morning coffee and cigarettes. Go into your grow room and say: "Excuse me ma'am, are you a White Widow?" Enough with all this speculation, just go straight to the source and ask the bitch. That is all. -BGK
