The effects of BP's fuck-up...

the problem with the boycotting is that BP gas doesn't necessarily have to be sold at a BP gas station . .. kinda hard to boycott it if you don't nkow if you're buying it or not.
I signed a petition to ask the government to sever the BP contracts. Don't know how well that went.

My daughter and SIL got to Gulf Shores last Sunday morning. They said you couldn't see the oil but it was definitely there when you got out of the water resulting in a soapy wash to remove it. By Monday afternoon, they could see tarballs in the surf.

It's sad because I think this was preventable and now it's out of hand. tsk tsk:roll:

If the government severs the BP contracts it pushes the company close to bankruptcy. If the company declares bankruptcy it will default on its obligations and the American taxpayer will be left with the bill for the cleanup.

Be careful what you wish for.

Well at least threaten SOME of the contracts. They are making like 60 million a day? Why not cut that to 10 million?

Didn't we cap the salaries of the banks that got the bailout money? Basically said, "until you pay us back your paycheck is capped at 500k" and then within a week like half of the banks had payed the money back in full? Same idea... Threaten the money they make to get them to act.

If BP is proven negligent they are liable for up to $3,000 per barrel of oil coming out of that well... What more do you want to do to them? They are going to owe billions in fines on top of the billions the clean up is going to cost them. What else do you want them to do right now?

common bro, they're already putting out 20 billion dollars for claims . . . and the white house can choose to raise this as they please . . .

they've got them by the BALLS.

why do you want to take away everything else they have left, when we already got them by the balls?

i don't want their balls. i want 3000+ miles of unspoiled coastline back. But since we can't have that, i would see BP relegated to the
history books.

It's disgusting, that's for sure. I feel sorry for all the wildlife that will effected by it..

^this for sure. Here in florida we've already had a couple dead oil soaked dolphins wash on shore, among other animals. It's a very shitty situation indeed.

I think it's all been planned and done on purpose
^this not so much. I honestly think this was the work of shitty equipment and a shitty inspection that led to said "shitty equipment" to eventually fail.

what's pretty fucked up is that those dolphins don't even really get that coated in oil compared to other things . . . . they're fucked up on the inside . . . . .
