T5 options for Vegetative growth.

hello all,

I have 1 T5 light fixture that I would like to use for my vegetative growth.
Im not to sure about what type of bulbs or combination that I should use.

Here are my options, I have 3 of these, Sylvania Grolux T5 FH054/ GRO G5 54W. and I have a attached pic for the light spectrum for that light for reference.

And then I also have four standard T5 54 watt lights, at 6000K

So can anyone recommend what bulbs and or combination you think would work best for Vegetative growth. I can put up to 4 bulbs together in my T5 Light Fixture.

Thanks for the help!

I've been using all t12 F40watt bulbs, with four cfls and nothing else (previously i always used 400MH) I use 8x40 watts on the t12s, but I just buy the bulbs that are closer to 3k, and the ones that are closer to 6k, and I mix them; one of each per fixture. I forget which are which, but just looking at them when on you can see one is blue, and one is white. I don't know if I'd do better with just one type. I do know this however, I'm thrilled with my really cheap ass vegging lights. The flouros have just allowed me to make perfect little bitches for flower. Best thing i ever did was get more flouros and ditch the "Stretch-O-Matic" (MH 400). The only thing about flouros is they do go alot slower, and they need to be SUPER close.
good luck be safe

Should really just put your 400w MH back in and place it closer to the lights if you're getting stretchy plants.

f40t12 lightbulbs dont put nearly as much light as the f54t5 because the T5's are HO bulbs which near the lumen output of MH (lumen:watt ratio of MH is superior but not by a lot if I remember right)... My point being the best light you have is that 400w MH.

Please dont take this as a flame to your methods as I am merely trying to help you, there is a reason nobody uses T12's anymore and it's because they are suboptimal and there is no reason for you to be using them when you have a perfectly good 400w MH except for maybe side lighting.

Please excuse my run-on sentences.

Oh i don' take it as a flame, it's cool. The thing is though with my T12s I have all the time in the world. Vegging is just never an issue or a problem.

COOL, thanks for the Reply, I'll go with a mix of bulbs. I also dug up another smaller T5 light fixture with 39w bulbs so i will throw those in to.
