lowering water PH in soil grow

I have always done hydroponics and used PH up and down when adding water to my resevoirs. I have a soil grow going now and I am wondering if it matters if I use PH down meant for hydroponics in my water for the soil. Does the acid in the PH down kill my soil microorganisms. If it does matter how should I lower the water PH. It is well water that comes out at 7.4 PH and a PPM of 230.
