If the November bill gets passed, what does that mean for us growers?

where the fuck do people come up with "we will never have another chance"? that is 100% bullshit. we have elections every 6 months. it could go onto any ballot at any time. it does not HAVE TO BE this time.
Sure, it could happen next time. Or it could stay illegal for another +70 years. All I know is that there hasn't been a ballot measure in the last 70 years which has a better chance to give us legalization. Seems crazy to pass that up for some hypothetical Utopia scenario.

i've voting NO because i don't want to be grouped with people who really have no clue. it's embarrassing.

i believe that when it doesn't pass it will be reintroduced in a much better manner. i will save my yes vote for that day. because that is what i believe. just like you believe otherwise. ;)

this is why we have elections in the first place. :)

i can't see into the future so i don't know what will happen.
Call me psychic, but I think it's safe to predict that politicians will always be greedy and try to impose taxes where ever they can in the near future.

how much money do they collect arresting and fining people for it right now? you do realize that is A LOT of money, that will suddenly be gone? do you think 50 an ounce will make up for the millions they are already making? millions they are making today, right now, as i type this. not some "future prediction".
How is that relevant? As long this passes it doesn't matter.

Again, I'd like someone to show me a better real tangible option coming in the near future that doesn't involve a tax. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

So you're going to vote against legalization based on a hypothetical situation which has no basis in reality. Interesting approach. How do you know the next legalization bill won't be worse?

it is YOU trying to impose the tax. :wall:

if you google a little you will see there are several.

same exact reason why you are voting YES. why can't you see that?

How do you figure that? you are voting to tax it.

And that's a bad thing how? yes, to the state that IS a bad thing.

None that I've seen that have the real financial backing required to make it on the ballot. If that is true, then why are they not on the ballot now? they will be when properly written.

still voting NO. :)

I'm voting yes because it's a real step towards legalization that is actually likely to happen. You are voting no because hypothetically in the future maybe one day there will be a perfect ballot measure that legalizes cannabis without taxing it, and then for some reason the California state government will decide not to tax it because that wouldn't be right.

There is a pretty big difference there. Not at all similar reasoning.

so that's what you got out of all this?

i'm voting NO because i think richard lee is a tool and i want to laugh when he loses. :)

i got a med card 7 years ago. i'm allowed 3 pounds. anyone can do this. this bill is pointless.

And who's going to spend millions of dollars to put out a legalization bill without having a personal financial steak in it? Again, hypothetical fantasy world.

still voting NO. :)
I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that you'd vote against ANY legalization bill, not because of how it's written but because legalization would be against your own personal financial interest.

keep making assumptions.

only one person in the world had enough money to do this.

if pot goes legal i'm gonna be rich. i know how to grow and can afford a permit. supply and demand. there will be a demand and i WILL have a supply. it would actually be a good day for me, financially. ;)

i think richard lee is a tool. he burned me and i will not let it go until HE fixes it. i will vote NO and encourage everyone else to do the same simply because of the person HE is.

Ahhh, the truth comes out.

So no legalization for the citizens of California because you have a personal problem with Richard Lee? That sounds kind of selfish tbh.

His problem with Lee is the bill.

Here's what everyone keeps forgetting about taxes. With cigarettes, there's an illegal black market for non-taxed cigarettes. That's because the tax is pretty high. States tax gasoline at different rates. It may be $0.50 cheaper per gallon only a few miles away. These reasons are why people buy black market cigarettes, and why people drive across state lines for gas. Its to avoid the tax.

Translate that to a marijuana tax, if the tax is $150 per ounce, then you'll see a black market for it. If the tax is something like $50 per ounce, then the black market will still be there, just not as prevalent as before. Politicians know they cant tax it too strong, if they do.

All I'm trying to say, is there's no reason to "fine" each consumer of marijuana each time they buy a pack of joints just because they can. Its the same thing as smoking tax-free illegally and getting a $250 citation every now and then if you get caught. Both are just wrong.

actually it says a lot. since he is the one who footed the bill and wrote all this nonsense. it's a direct reflection of what he "wants". and it is all about him and making MORE money.
