How big of a deal is a minor light leak really

I'm only a noob with 1 grow so far but I personally think that light leaks are a bit over hyped.

Logic dictates that outdoors, plants are exposed to moonlight; so light no stronger than that would obviously not have a negative impact.

I had the door open for most my grow and there was ambient light from another room that most purist would go into a panic over; my sex distribution rate below pretty much speaks for itself:

78% Female
18% Male
4% Hermaphrodites

I speculate that the high percentage of females was related to the constant struggle with low PH.

My .02

EDIT: In retrospect, I'm dumping 123,000 lumens in roughly a 7x7 area.

That argument has been put forth any number of times over the years but unfortunately logic does not control plant reactions to environmental conditions.

Something else to factor in is most people grow crosses rather than pure strains and many strains are not as stable as they are claimed or believed to be and instability in a strain can cause different reactions to differing conditions. While pure strains are not 100% resistant to such things they are far more stable due to thousands of years of nothing but the same genetics being bred back to itself.

Even though I did not know squat when I first began to grow back in 1972 I never had a single hermi until after the so-called wunder-strain crosses were created years later. I am not saying it is impossible to have a hermi in a pure strain, but having one in a pure strain due strictly to conditions are less likely than in many crosses, especially in crosses made by basement pollen chuckers who think they know what they are doing and also from some professional breeders who do not deserve the title of professional breeder.

ok i think they are over hyped as he said up there lol
but i also think that if given each condition to the exact kind of plant that the one with the dark would do a little better off
but u should be fine also i do something for my plant
i have a paintball gun and what i do is i leak a small amount of co2 in the room of the plant because i heard it helps them somehow and i havent had a problem but dont put new seedling in mg soil unless its moisture control but i wanted to let yall know that i have no idea if it works yet but its worth google ing lol it see what u find out and post it

indeed, i at first also thought about moonlight. but of course, later on, we learn that moonlight is not in the usable spectrum of plants, and or is not bright enough for the plant to actually register it (at least, this is what i THINK i have learned lol).

and thats where my actual experience ends lol. i have 3 in my closet, all females, all came from bagseed, and their room is only, at best, 95% lightproof. no issues yet, but this by no means is a controlled experiment, and actually means nothing in scientific terms.

so why do i post? cuz i like to, thats why!
