I dont understand...NAscar and World Cup.

I dont understand...why people like NASCAR. I smoked my morning breakfast and watched almost 20 laps of todays race and almost fell asleep.

World Cup......I watched the game yesterday when USA was bounced and they showed the results from every World Cup the US was ever in and my question is why cant the US soccer team do better than getting to the 1/4 finals, I mean either do it all the way to dont do it at all. Look at Basketball and Hockey for the Olympics, every time they field the best team thats available to play and they usually come home with a medal of some sort.

and while we are talking about World Cup wtf is up with them acting like they got shot when they barely got touched. But there they Are rolling on the ground in a semi fetal position when replay clearly shows that nothing happened other than an air molecule might have hit them in the little euro-trash nut sack.

Did anyone see the NHL guy this year on the bench with pliers taking out his own tooth?

Wimbledon...WTF?? Between soccer and tennis I dont know which is worse to watch or which will be the first sport to be banished from the US for lack of interest.

Like I said I am really high and thought I would share.

I don't understand nascar either, i like to watch the world cup on the spanish channel because they seem much more interested then US commentators, the US and soccer just doesn't work out that well, were okay but not fantastic like we usually are in other sports

Oh dear , your beginning to sound like an England fan.Theres no God given right to win a medal at the World cup or any other sporting event.USA were outplayed , simple as that.Think the USA team fortunate they didnt have to face a halfway decent team and get humiliated much like England this morning.

In all fairness id pull on a Donavon or Dempsey replica shirt before id pull on a Rooney shirt :) What a waste of space he was.

I know why I dont enjoy Nascar, I dont live in a trailer and Im not related in any way to my wife.

Soccer I also understand why no one cares. Aound here the only kids that play soccer are the little uncoordinated dorks that cant play a real sport. In the words of my 5 year old "Daddy, soccer is for girls"

i cant comment on the world cup, soccer isnt really my thing.
as far as nascar, its like watching a baseball game on tv.... really boring.
but its different if your actually there.
i used to not understand the whole nascar thing, but after going to a race or 2, i can see how people can get into it, its quite an experience feeling the ground shake from the sound of the engines.
and fyi- some of the ladies really like those same vibrations that make the ground shake... if your following my 'drift'...... ;)
i still dont see how you could just sit on the couch at home and watch it tho.

if you done understand nascar you will not enjoy it. im a gear head so i get into whats going on with the cars and how the drivers are dealing with the cars issues. if your not fallowing the points race its pretty lame aswell. i guess for the average joe that know nothing about cars it would be boring but it has a huge fallowing.

and fyi i dont live in a trailer and i dont wanna pipe anyone in my family

NASCAR is terrible. I watch virtually all types of racing and NASCAR is the only series that I watch for the crashes (by "watch" I mean fast-forward through Inside NASCAR till I see carnage).

You really answer your own question. Soccer is not popular in the US because it is not "American" (because it is slow, low scoring, weak pussy sport that encourages embellishment (we like tough guys - Two weeks ago Chuck Lidell broke Rich Franklins arm EARLY in the first round of a UFC "tune-up" fight - did Franklin quit? Nope he didn't even flinch and kept fighting with his broken arm and knocked out Chuck Lidell with his good arm before the round was over - later asked would he have come out for the second round - "Without a doubt, I have fought with broken bones before;" During the NHL playoffs Duncan Keith had 7 teeth broken out of his mouth with a puck to the face - he came back before the period was over and led the team with most minutes on the ice for the game - the fetal position shit trying to draw a penalty is disgusting especially in the World Cup where your game should speak for itself), overturning and missing good goals for no reason (in this tournament I think I have seen 6 blown goals including in GER vs. ENG today), and the offside trap when the ball is in the "zone" discourages aggressiveness (even the NHL revised their 2 line pass to encourage more aggressive play). Because of that lack of respect anyone that is good at sports play football, baseball, basketball, hockey, MMA... Because that is where the glory, respect, fame, girls, money are. If we fielded our nations top talent; that grew up eating, breathing, sleeping, respecting soccer like the rest of the world, we would absolutely dominate. In a sport where we have two honest goals disallowed for no reason by referees with obvious bias in the most elite tournament doesn't help make Americans like soccer anymore (which I honestly believe is quite alright with the world).

Hmmmm , the US could dominate the world cup...if it wanted too....hahahahaha another England fan clone in stars and stripes garb.I dont hear any other nations squawking about bad referees ...except England of course. It works both ways as England will attest re 1966 world cup final.

It isn't if we wanted to - it is if we cared and valued soccer as a professional sport. We don't. It's not like opinion of soccer is going to change overnight in a country where more people watch hockey (which is less popular than the defunct XFL) than soccer. While a ton of kids play soccer, few follow elite soccer clubs and the kids that are good at more popular American sports pursue those. Kids in the ghetto don't aspire to be profession soccer players nor does any kid with any inclination to play football, baseball, basketball, hockey. The talent pool that the Mens team can choose from is relatively small.

Why does our womens team spank the rest of the world? Why do you think the women would be heads and shoulders above the world when our men struggle? Because women don't have professional options for Football, baseball, hockey; the girls that are good at basketball play in the WNBA. The other handful fill Olympic teams which is a SMALL NUMBER and all of the other athletic girls play soccer. Our womens soccer team has a HUGE talent pool to choose from. That is why they have won 2 World Cups (40% of attempts), won 3 Olympic Gold medals silver in Sydney (75% of attempts are gold - the other 25% was silver), and 3 for 3 in CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup. Can you imagine if our men didnt have 4 professional leagues to choose from? You cant honestly believe that our National soccer team wouldn't be better without the NFL, MLB, NHL, and a smaller NBA for our elite male athletes to participate in.

You must not be following the world cup very closely. Lots of teams have been complaining about refs. The US had 20% of it's World Cup goals disallowed with no justification for either (both would have been tie-breakers). England had a pivotal goal not counted that CLEARLY crossed the goaline. This isn't nitpicking penalty calls, THESE WERE GOALS in a sport where they are FEW and FAR between!!! How could you call that "Squaking?" Anyone that believes in fair play should be "squaking" when the refs blow obvious goals with no recourse for the affected team.

If youd read my post youll see i said notably except England , they love to squawk too , so its because nobody cares...thats why theres no World cup trophy or finals place for the US...I see...it couldnt be because the team isnt good enough ? Almost every player in the US team came from top filght clubs..theres gotta be a loser and a winner is the bottem line.
Like i say , dodgy ref calls are part of the game , FIFA refuse to change so Football fans accept that , people who know relatively little on the subject dont see that though.

Lol, I don't like nascar or soccer/football but I do respect the players/drivers. The average Nascar driver loses 15lbs of his/her body weight during a single race and it takes hell of a lot of concentration to send a car around a race track at 200+ mph for a few hours. The races do seem slow and boring to people who don't realize that there is actually a scoring system and a sh*tload of strategy behind the most basic passes. When it comes to racing Rolex, American LeMans, and Formula 1 are a hell of a lot more fun to watch. Especially 24 hour LeMans races where 2 drivers have to swap every 4 hours for 24 hours straight on a road course driving a mix of road cars and race cars.

As for soccer/football, I don't watch it and don't know anything about it so I cannot comment. Not that I have a grudge against it, just ain't my Forté.
