No, you didnt read the thread that started the shit. He tried making look stupid when im trying to find help. Thats why I told him to stop giving me advise.
I read the entire thread. He did not try to make you look stupid. Griz is one of the nicest cats on RIU. I dont think I have ever seen him put anyone down. You have done a fine job of that on your own.

Check out my post above. Ceramic Metal Halides. The first true full spectrum bulb. Must use a Magnetic HPS ballast. And only go up too 400 watts. The bulb you are looking at is ok. But the lumen to watt ratio is pretty crappy. Not really sure how their PAR rating is. But I think 2 of the 400 CMH would do much better than the 1000 combo. Plus use less power.
So if I am currently running this: http://www.insidesun.com/Econo-400-Watt-HPS.item a 400w CMH will work in this?
Could you recommend a good bulb?

You have started shit with atleast 4 people that I have seen so far. When you have people writing visitor messages telling you to stop arguing and asking why you always come at people like that, well, thats because your an asshole. Stop starting crap on peoples threads man. Its childish. Nobody wants to see that crap. Just go away.

Its a mag 400 HPS, it will work. Here is a link: http://www.growlightexpress.com/ceramic-metal-halide-bulbs-9/mastercolor-ceramic-metal-halide-400-watt-79.html And these are really affordable. They are not marketed as Agricultural bulbs, so us growers save. For now that is. They are catching on fast. I have been using mine for about a month now. Replaced a 600 HPS with it. So far it is performing above my expectations. EDIT: They are not universal as far as position. You need to specifie horizontal or vertical mounting position when you order.

Guess we can make that number 5 now. And yes I am an asshole when it comes to users like yourself. You get an honest answer, but its not the answer you want to hear. So you get defensive and think you are being put down. EDIT: They tricked you, you didnt see that when they claimed 280,000 lumens?

Thanks for adding some useful info to this shitpile of a thread! I think I'm gonna go for side by side 400w CMH instead of upgrading to 600 or 1000w!

" and most growers report better success with the use of supplemental silica."

From the link to the bulb you posted cowboy - what is supplemental silica? Sand? =)

Yes, I use Rare Earth and Greensand in my medium mix. And good call on the side by side 400 CMH. I am soon heading that way. I am now using a Hortilux 600 HPS in my Lumatek electronic. (The CMH is still being fired by a magnetic.) Its a newer model with 'soft start'. 4 months and I have seen no decline or issues with the Hortilux bulb. I want to get a 400 Lumatek and see how the CMH does. EDIT: I just started using the CMH. But have always used silica in my medium. IMO no matter what type of light you use, silica is an important element when it come to a strong, resistant crop.

Yeah, the 280,000 lumens did get me suspicious. I dont know you or anybody else on here so I am out of line to put somebody else down but never do I ever try to do so. When somebody says smartass stuff to me when im trying to get help just pisses me off like it would anybody else. Im not one to let things go but anyways, I take back the bad I said but I dont think I was out of line taking up for myself. Im not the smartest when it comes to this stuff, thats why I ask questions. If the answer is all over the site then I missed it. I dont look before I ask because I want more than one opinion. If someone dont like the question then they should go somewhere else instead of ruining my thread. To everyone that gave me useful info, I thank you.
