I've just had my light blow out.A wire fell off and all i heard was a pop, then darkness.Luckily,i was just in the process of putting her to bed,so the darkness isn't an issue for another 12 or so hours. She just started her 5 week of flowering today(13 weeks from seed),and won't be ready for another 4.
The bulb i was using was a 200w sunblaster cfl,6400k,14243 lumens.
I have no cash until friday, and the only other bulb i have is a 100w,2700k,1400 lumens.
I only have 1 plant.Could this hold me over until friday without too much stress on her,or should i just put her down(really, really don't want to have to!!)
I need advice fast!
ps,here's a pic of the her

Your plant will not grow much, but will still get enough light to keep her healthy, u should hurry with the other light though...

You grew that big green baby with one CFL?? Nice. I would get two back in there asap. She wants more light now, not less.
Correction, he grew that big green baby with one fucking monster CFL. Haha.

Dude that one bulb isn't going to support life, that being said, its going to slow down death too. I'm going to make the assumption that you cannot use outdoor sunlight, this would be my advice. (I had a 600W MH blow out on me dude, I feel your pain).

Okay, we want her to survive the best possible. Hang your one bulb on the side of the plant, not above it. I'd hang it on the side as close to your mylar as possible. All this useable light should go into the plant if we can help it. Rotate your plant every 4-6 hours. She is going to be able to move the energy it makes by photosynthesis around, but our goal is helping the plant to conserve as much energy as possible. I'd keep the soil constantly moist if you're not hydro. Overwatering be damned, we want plenty of water accessible. Do 14 hours of light at first, I think thats gentle enough at first to not re-veg. If she's looking real sickly or sad come tuesday/wednesday go to 18 or 24 on. Do not kill her, she will survive the week.

Best of luck,

Thanks for the advice grizz,
I was beginning to lose faith in this site.Unfortunetly i can't rotate her around. She takes up the entire closet, plus i have trusses in place to prop up some of her side branches.Could i just move the light around instead? My pot is a bottom feeder(soil),so it feeds itself as needed.I do keep an eye on the water level though.I will try the 14-10 and see how it goes. This won't fuck her up too much?
You can check out her grow journal on my home page.

I wish i could put it outside,or even move it,but she's too big to move without damaging her.I've talked to the hydro guy i bought my light from last time, and placed an order, only i have to wait until the weekend to pick it up.She doesn't look to happy about the small bulb in there right now,but it's either that,or be put down.
If i can get everything back to normal over the weekend, should she recover, and will this add an extra week or so to her flowering cycle?
I'll post a pic of my temporary light solution tommorrow.

Please dont kill her!!!! Let her live!!! She'll be fine until friday, alittle light is better then none. She'll thank you and you'll thank her for hanging in there.

Yeah you can move the bulb around, just keep exposing different growth to the light. She'll waste energy moving crap around, lighting different sections of the plant slows that a bit. I'd grab any CFL you have in the house and use floor lamps, desk lamps, whatever. It's pretty rare a CFL is in the 4800-3600K range thats totally worthless, I'd throw anything you can find in there.

Need anything just shoot me a PM, I'm all about "what works" rather than "what you should do". Usually they're drastically different things, no matter how much noobs tell you different ;)

Keep right on rockin on,

always good to have backup bulbs. With HID spectrum degrades, so usually you replace bulbs every 8-12 months, these used bulbs are great for having around in case your main bulb goes out.

Your #1 concern is enough light to keep her alive, and I think your other bulb will do that for a few days. Your #2 concern is to keep her in flowering, and I think your other bulb will do that as well. You won't get a lot of dense growth in the mean time, but just get the new one as soon as you can and the worse case you will lose a little weight off the finished product. You might also have a small section of a cola with slightly lower potency, but chances are it won't be noticeable if you get your new bulb soon.

Here's a little update on planty. She seems to be back on course now.She just started her 8 week of flowering, and everything is going smooth(so far at least!!)A wire fell off my light causing it to go out.My buddy just rewired it and it works fine.Didn't have to go and buy another light. She only has 2 more weeks until harvest. Here are some up to date pics.
