Do boats, cars motor homes and air craft. I have a buddy that makes 500$ every weekend he wants to work he does 3 to 4 cars. He keeps his day job for the medical benifits for the family.

If you get good at this, you will have people come looking for you.

ya know ive considered this in the past but it seems like every time someone else attempts it around here; they just sparkle and fade, some last a year if they are lucky. i think its the overhead b/c you really need a special facility for year round operation here in the cold north unless you do mobile detailing and do it at the customers house/garage. maybe ill re-think it. thanks

Yeah, thats pretty much what i was thinking. Those stores stay in business for many years, low overhead and easy to keep track of. Plus everyone in the area will eventually go to you for their habits, and they'll make requests for different products.

Carpet cleaning is a good one. Startup is slow but its relatively easy to pick up on and pretty cheap especially if u have a van or a trailer already.

Small engine repair is another good one, small motorcycle sales and repair shop and service lawn mowers etc on the side. Just a few more thoughts, people will always have dirty carpets and broken mowers/ weed eaters/ motorcycles etc that need repair, and if they don't, well that's why your there, to sale it to em.

Buy a good riding and push mower and a couple weedeaters and a small trailer to haul em on and start a lawn care business. Its what I do, I think I invested about $5000 to get started. Run an ad in your local paper and hang flyers at trailer parks and such. I make enough during the summer that I dont have to work in the winter other than some snow blowing and shoveling of snow..make over 50k a year..If you can get enough work hire a couple of high schoolers to help in the summer..You can smoke all you want and not worry about drug tests..its a great life

i know its been a long time but i just wanted to say thanks to all that posted replies; im doing alot of research on auto detailing and i think its what im going to try next spring. its just too late in the season here in the northeast; nobody wants there car detailed in the winter and most people dont even wash there cars all winter long here because as soon as you drive it down the road its all friggin dirty again. thanx again

how about your own lawn care business, doesn't cost much to start your own business and once you have alot of work you can get other people to work for you
you can start out with the normal lawn mowing and pruning services, then add in maybe a gutter cleaning service and rubbish removal
a friend of mine started his own lawn care business just for extra income and now that it's such a success, it's his main job
edit: every small business is risky to begin with, you might have the right services but without the marketing/promoting behind it you wont have much work
