I'm loving this thread. I seriously thought I was the only one brave enough to grow in south carolina haha just kidding. But dude your shit is looking good. I'm envying you bc you have those G13 plants =( I seen American Beauty yesterday and now I wanna have a taste. I had to pull up two 5 footers today bc they were males =( my dad smokes the leaves for some odd reason so now I'm left with 7 females of some bagseed. Oh and did I mention that this is my first time growing. Ill have some pics of my ladies in the morning. on another note, the fucking pestare a bitch. And now mosquitoes are camping out and attacking me when I water them. Smh no fun with all of the scratching

Hey hey Herb, thanks for stopping by! Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm brave or dumb growing down here, but I figure others have done it, so why not.

My biggest fear is the humidity during flowering for our plants. It's always 90%+ humidity at night here during the summer, and I know I'm gonna be dealing with a lotta bud rot because of it.

I couldn't grow in the soil too well, due to the red clay down here not draining. I dug holes, filled the holes with new soil, but still had problems. The water just doesn't drain after a rain, so my plants sat in soggy holes for days on end because of it.

That's why my plants are so small still. I switched to buckets in early June, and they've shot up ever since.

I'm gonna go feed and water my plants tomorrow (July 5th), so I'll get an exact measurement as to where they're at now.

There is probably a lotta hype about G13 because of the media and such, a lot of wives tales about its origins, but I'm excited to smoke it with my friends. It's crossed with a hawaiian sativa (Haze), which will give it a more up high. If you look at the leaves, they show a lotta sativa characteristics, so that's good news.

The cool thing about growing in the south is the longer summers, and the ability to grow strains like Sour Diesel and G13/Haze because of it.

Good luck to you brother. You can grow some really good weed from bagseed if you put a little bit of effort into your grow, and it sounds like you are.

Just came back from feeding/watering, and thought I'd post a few pics.



I spread the buckets out after I took these pics.

They were blocking each other from getting light in the lower half...which is a great sign that they're growing.

That happen close to the plot? That does suck but it didn't look like a cop helicopter. You never know though, does sound like a turbine engine... Starting to think the orange buckets need to change color???

It was on the way to the plot, so I was a little creeped out. There are a lotta tour/and medical helicopters in the area too, so I really wasn't too worried.

For sure, on Wednesday, the buckets will all be spray-painted green. Those damn buckets really do stick out. My spot is so well hidden though, the only way anyone would see them is from the air.

Just came back from watering. I bought another 5-gallon container to haul water in, so I now water 15 gallons all together when I do waterings.

I also attempted to start camouflaging the buckets, but ran out of brown spray paint (1 only did 8 buckets...kinda disappointing). This paint is good however, as it's made to be sprayed on plastic.

I'll have to go back on Saturday with more spray paint and finish the others. They sell pre-camouflaged buckets at Walmart, but when I started this endeavor out, I was low on funds and had to buy the cheapest thing I could find to get going.

It's only been since Monday, but I keep noticing decent growth every time I go out there. I measured the G13/Haze and most of the plants are at least 2 feet, some 2 1/2 feet. The Sour Diesel has about a 1 1/2 foot average. The 7 Sour Diesel seedlings are coming along nicely.

I know that's short considering where we are at in the season, but I experienced stagnat growth the entire month of May due to poor drainage using ground holes.

I'll be going back on Saturday to do more painting/watering. It's been hot as hell this week (as it is everywhere in the US). High 90's, low 100's. Just glad I can water these plants every few days.

Still looking great! I actually use one of those "pre-camoflauged" buckets as my watering bucket , haha (got it at Walmart ) .

But yea, spray paint cans don't go far when you want to fully cover something. You should see if you can use some sort of fabric that is a good color and texture. Hell I bet if you look around you could find a some that is maybe even "pre-camoflauged". You could just get a couple yards of it and then cut it to fit. It would probably be a lot easier and cover all of the orange better.

Instead of camo fabric I'd look at field camo like marine Ghillie Suits. Gun shows and surplus stores will probably carry them. A few places online as well.

Both good suggestions. I did attempt to go with a camo cloth attempt, and actually removed what fabric I did put on so I could paint these buckets.

Biggest problem with cloth for me was getting it to stay. I duct taped it on, but the cloth would eventually slip down when it rained.

It's cool though, the camo paint layering I'm attempting to pull off on these buckets is going well for me, I just ran out of the paint. Two more cans of brown paint (as a base) and the green can I already have should do a good job.

As I've pined about before, next year I'm gonna be growing back in the midwest, where I won't have to deal with this type of grow again. It is nice to know that I can grow in buckets though...might come in handy in some locations I already have in mind for next year.

Those ghillie suits are just bad ass man. I've always been a big fan of those anyway...nothing better to break up the pattern of a person.

Man I hope so.

My biggest problem is gonna be drying these plants.

I have to dry outdoors, and I think I'm gonna use my 10'x12', 72-inch tall Coleman tent, with the flaps on the sides left wide open.



I'm gonna drape an additional tarp over the tent (plus I don't have the tent's original top on in these pics, which I will add during drying to block light) to darken it a bit more.

Hopefully there will be enough ventilation, yet will be dark enough for a week or so.

Harvest for these plants will be the first or second week in October, so temps will be in the mid to upper 70s, and hopefully reduced humidity by then.

As soon as the stems are crispy, it's off for a month long cure, where I will be burping the glass jars they'll be in once a day for an hour.

I just want a pound out of all this....I got a lotta friends that I wanna get high.

Yeah, I've just given up the cloth method on this run. That would have been a good idea to drill holes to hang the camo clothes before I took the buckets out to the plot, but now it's a no go. I did drill hundreds of holes in the bottom of the buckets for drainage (and put small stones in the bottom of the buckets for drainage).

I'm just gonna buy more spray paint for a couple more bucks and spray the rest on Saturday. It'll be about 15 degrees cooler on Saturday then it has been this week, so it'll be easier to work outside thankfully (hopefully).

At this point I just keep freaking about how I'm gonna avoid bud rot during flowering, and how to best dry this weed outdoors before curing.

I'll probably have to cut out some bud rot this year, just hope it isn't too much.

BUT...

I'm getting ahead of myself. I still don't know if I have females or males at this point, so I suppose I should focus on that before anything else.
