New grow set up trips breaker and house loses power. What can I do?

Hey I live in an older house and I just set up a 600w light with 2 fans, one for intake and one for exhaust, in a small back room I used to use for storage. The power has gone out twice since, once when watching tv and the other while cooking. I know it has something to do with the wiring and/or breaker. Can someone explain whats going on and what I need to do to fix it? I was thinking I might have to get an electrician to re-wire or add a new line to the room but I don't really know how everything all works. If someone could please explain a little to me it would be a great help. thanks

Your pulling too much power through the breaker. Easiest solution (short term) would to be to run an extension cord into another room that runs of a different breaker and plug part of your equipment into the extension cord so you are pulling less power from the room where your setup is.

you can also unplug the intake fan and use a passive intake. its not much but it can help.

have an electrician, preferably one of your friends, install a double 30 in your box, run romex to a mechanical timer, then wire that to a 220v 2 plug.
running those 600watters at 220v will save you money and risk.
you could probaly just go to home depot yourself and knock it out in an hour or 2.

I have to agree with FDD2 here, we could get into a long conversation here about amps and such but in the end you are asking the the system to do more than it was designed to do. Get an electrician in there to rewire that room, wiring is not a hobby, be careful.

I was having the same problem but i was trying to run a window a/c in my grow room. I knew beforehand that i would be running too many amps so i was left with 2 options, install a new breaker or run an extension cord. what i did "to make things the simplest" was bought a 14 guage major appliance extension cord from lowes and plugged it into a unused 20 amp socket with dedicated 20 amp breaker. If you are not familliar with wiring and breakers and such then you really need an electrician as stated by the others, but if you can find a socket "plug in" somewhere in your house that is running on a different breaker and can handle the load then use an extension cord. you would want a cord that is at least 1 size bigger than your what your ballast uses to keep it safe. my a/c has a 16 guage cord so i ran a 14 guage major appliance cord and it works perfectly. only cost me 10 bucks also.

Thanks everyone for posting. I unplugged the intake fan and ran an extension cord for a short term solution already. I figured I would have to get an electrician.

My wife blew our breaker this morning with the hair dryer, I've been trying to draw power from different breakers and everything was balanced out perfectly, she usually dries her hair in the living room. For some reason she decided to do it near our grow tent and it shut down, it was early and I don't think I had ever woken up that fast before, lol...as soon as I heard my inline fan turn off I felt like I had drank 6 redbulls
