Anyone ever seen on of these spiders?

I encountered a weird looking insect on my mazar plant in my greenhouse today. It was all grayish white, furry with a bright red spot on its back and some yellows. It really looked like a spider, had 8 legs, about the size of a nickel.

But the weird thing was its shape, it was kind of longish, with a round head and then a longer back section. I tried to capture it but it was really quick. Is this a beneficial bug in my green house or will it lay eggs and destroy my crop? Just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before. Thanks

PS I tried taking a picture but it came out too small to tell what it is.

i go by the rule of anything that moves, breeds and shits except for me near by babys should be destroyed :)

If it's a spider leave it, It's this kill everything approach to pest control that causes many issues I had spiders and ladybugs keeping the bugs at bay for me and never had an issue.

i heard that is not good to leave them because then birds feed off those bugs and by doing so they can ruin your plants ..just take those spidies off and dont take any risks

Agreed. If its a spider leave it. I have a few tiny spiders on my plants and about 6 praying mantis, The all time best plant defender against mites,beatles and other plant destroying incests.

It's a goldenrod spider, and will eat lots of critters harmful to your garden. You should let it live!! (and i've really got arachnaphobia... bad!)

Ahmen. I don't need any spiders helping me keep tabs on my plants. I can do it myself.. no help needed. I concur with your comment.

its impossible to keep bugs away from outdoor plants. spiders and ladybugs and etc. are natural . . . . they'll just attack stuff that would normally attack your plants as everyone has said.

the webs don't do shit as far as hindering plants, they grow right through it. and as for the buds, aside from a stray bug or two on the outside there truly isn't much stuck to the buds at all.

I never had problems with spiders,never really freaked me out and I used to think they were neat to watch them in action,until I got bit by a poisenous spider on a camping trip,the fucker bit me right above my eye at the end of my eyebrow,first it swelled up and then it got an open sore,and then my flesh was being eaten away,by the time I got medical attention I had a hole where the bite was that was a 1/2 inch around and almost to the bone,Im only talking 6 hours after I knew that I was bitten by something.so you should know exactly what kind of spiders are in your area and be safe they are nothing to fool with if you dont know what kind it is peace and grow on

Thanks for all the replies. My plants are inside of a green house, so I dont have to worry about birds. And smokeweedlikeits02, it kind of looked like the 2nd to last pictures body shape, but different coloring. This thing definitely wasn't a golden rod spider, it had a totally weird shape, kind of like a longer body with the legs spread out more. I went back out to kill it but it was already gone. I try to kill most of the spiders I find in there simply because I also have arachnophobia.


BTW, I know its in a green house and chances are against it, but does anyone know how to keep caterpillars away? I know they come from moths laying eggs on the buds, but they ate a lot of my buds last season and I would like to keep them away. Would just killing all moths found be enough? Thanks

keep the moths out of your greenhouse and stop any worms that do exist and oyu should be good.

I manage to keep them out of my open garden with just a 7 foot fence and going out several times a day to chase them out.

it seems like the bugs know that if they go in the fenced area they're gonna be chased out by a human momentarily ;).

You can use Safer caterppillar killer. Spray it every three days. Will keep the moths at bay and you will have less bud rot at the end of your grow. dirrtyd

tight i found those pics and there bugs from around the world so it might be exotic
