hey i veg and bloom under hps lights but i have noticed my results r not to be as great as they should be..... i have on a few occasions skipped veg and taken clones and placed them into bloom and noticed the results to be quite the same as if i have vegged...

should i skip vegging then?

or do u think there is the flourcents i use in cloning should be used in vegg instead of the hps lights?

Veg plants like to have more blue than red light, so you won't get as good of results underneath an HPS as you would a MH or CMH, but they should definitely grow. How long are you vegging them under the HPS for? Do they show signs of stress while being vegged under the HPS?

yea the thing is my guy does veg n bloom under hps n gets great results like 1.8/light....so u would think it would workout for me, but im willing to try new things... do u think me adding floresents around the hps will be good or should i get mh and lose the hps for veg...

I veg for 2-3 weeks or until they are 1.5 feet tall... yea they do stress out a bit and the stems turn red, but this could also be do to the fact that my humidity is quite low (25%-35%) in veg as there is less plant folaige and buds to make up for it... by the begging of bloom my humidty is closer 50% as there is more plant foilage that creates humidity

Check out Horitlux or agrosun bulbs, they include blue spectrum so your plants won't get too leggy.

Agrosun bulbs don't last very long tho

Get a Ceramic Metal Hallide(CMH). They work in standard, magnetic core ballasts. They have an awesome spectrum and can be used for veg or flower. I run a 400 CMH and a 600 HPS together for flowering and the plants love it.

So the plants grow, but when they flower they still have the same final weight?

That is really odd. How are your temps? Are they in the 70's?

Edit: They use HPS ballasts, which is one of the reasons I recommended it for you. The other reason is because they work incredibly well.

If you have a way of venting the extra heat then I would definitely use them for flower as well. For a long time I used MH for veg and HPS for flower and got great results. Then I tried CMH because of the spectrum and I got great results but the buds are a little smaller but denser. Now I'm using the combo and I won't go back to anything else.

hmmm intreserting well im quite well setup with vents & acs so i think itcould take the extra lights .. but this is my question would i be adding the cmh lights to the existing setup or replacing a few of the hps with the cmh?
