Is a 2 Gal. Plastic Pot Big Enough To Grow Outside?

I was going to go with 3 gal. but im on a very limited budget.
Another question, where is the cheapest place to buy plastic pots? I spent about $4.50 on each 2 gal. pot at a lowe's store but I thought that was kind of pricey for some plastic pots.

Home Depot 5 gallon buckets are $3, just drill drainage holes.

You can either spend some dollars now, or you'll end up getting root bound and losing a lot of potential yield. Not spending the extra money now could literally cost you multiple ounces.

Yep, Homer buckets have grown many a ganja plant. I just love em.

When I first started growing , I always went to an outdoor plant and tree nursery and bought used black plastic pots, they were the type that had ridges all the way around. I was paying 15 cents per 1 gallon plastic pot and 50 cent per 3 gallon, I never bought any 5 gallon plastic pots there but they had those too and charged $1.00 for those. They had 7 gallons also and those were $2.00. All the plastic used pots at outdoor plant nurseries will be filthy and caked up with crud, you'll have to wash them off inside and out with a hose and a soapy rag, but this is they way I would recommend if you want CHEAP pots.

2 gallon pots outside? Nah, I wouldn't even use 2 gallon pots inside. Like the others say, go 5 gallon for outside at the minimum. Every city and state normally has an outdoor plant nursery somewhere, everyone I've been to always sold used black plastic pots, and don't let them sell you the bad cracked ones. Buy 1 gallon and 5 gallon pots, transplant the 1's into the 5's.

Rinse used pots with bleach mixed with warm water.

Cut the bottoms off the buckets, tape over some cardboard for a temporary bottom. When transplanting to the outdoors remove the cardboard.

You could let it grow until the roots are balled and then cut the bottom off the pot and put it on a bigger pot. This is called double potting and it causes the plant less stress than a transplant. The book I read didn't mention whether it could be done outside just putting the pot on the ground, but I can't see why it wouldn't work the same as double potting.

You can definitely double pot into the ground, but I would have the hole filled with premixed and aerated soil.
