Early flowering - Drawbacks

Hello, have 4 plants outside currently around 8-10 weeks old, light hours outside doesnt go down to flowering time for a while so i have chosen to begin flowering them myself, by covering them and making sure they r getting 12/12 a day. Just wondering if there are any major drawback to flowering early such as yield, quality of flowers etc. Or will it do just fine if it has been vegged for long enough, im guessing 8-10weeks vegging is sufficient as the plants are around a yard tall and look relatively healthy. So is there any drawback to flowering early?

Yield is the only disadvantage, but early harevest is an advantage.
They have veged long enough. An the days are getting shorter.

All my clones in hidden in my yard are flowering now also,

Thanks man, +rep. So yours started flowering naturally now then? I looked up on the net for my town when the daylight hours get down to 12/12 and thats not until the end of september, im guessing they would sesne the shortening days and start flowering before this anyway, but dont want to take the risk, as if it didnt start flowering until september it would surely die before harvest, where as now i should have some buds during september.

Dude you are fine! Budding process starts normally in August (northern Hemisphere). we started losing daylight June 21, but reaction to this won't be noticeable until august

i see i see, i keep hearing this lol why is it people force flower outdoors in the uk? just for an early harvest? what i could quite easily do is flower 1 or 2 plants myself, just to compare to leaving the other 2 to nature, as this is my first grow, would be quite handy to see the difference in yields etc if i let nature do its thing, in england though by september october it gets pretty cold and wet, so could be a problem, dont want bud rot.

i get it, i just think i would rather cultivate my crop in hotter sunnier weather, reduces the risks for me and this is a budget grow, so far from seed to where it is now its cost me £15, 10 for the seeds and 5 for the soil.

well a plant is a plant you are never guranteed anything. if you go 12/12 you will have to do it for weeks. when in all reality natural flowering will take place before or the same time as if you would do 12/12 by now at least. also if you do 12/12 im sure after you see it flowering you will leave it alone and let nature finish but if it wasnt supposed to flower yet it will just go back to veg until natural flowering takes place. keeping a 12/12 scedule is not something you can always depend upon yourself to do. cause if you sleep in or somethin happens where you cant uncover or cover your plants on that 12 than it kinda defeats the purpose.

Little food for thought for ya..

I think this is the 50th time I've had to explain this. :|

anyhow.. a plant that's grown 12/12 from seed.. will yield considerably less grams.. than a plant that's been given (for example) 2 weeks of veg time.

Why?

Simple.. the more roots you have.. the bigger the root system is going to be/get. Everyone knows (experienced growers that is..) that the more veg time you give a plant.. the more time the plant has to build up its root system. Also, during the veg cycle.. this is given to the plant.. mainly to give the plant time to get used to light.. and it also gives the plant time to mature.. and get built up (strength).. and prepared for flowering.

In a nutshell though, the more veg time a plant has to develop its roots.. the more roots the plant will have. The bigger the root network is.. the bigger your ending yields will be.

Or, in lamens terms; the more roots a plant has, the bigger the root system will be. The bigger/more roots a plant has.. the bigger the yield will be in the end. period.

Now, a plant that's being grown 12/12 from seed.. thus skipping the veg cycle completely.. the less roots and strength the plant will have.. which it needs during flowering.. to be able to support bigger buds.. but your not going to get bigger buds doing 12/12 from seed.. because you've skipped the entire veg. cycle.. which again, the plant needs in order to support bigger buds..

I'm sure someone out there... knows what I'm saying here. All the experienced growers.. will agree with what I'm saying.

But, I'm just trying to teach you noobies.. the facts about growing cannabis.

Hopefully, I've helped at least ONE grower understand the importance of root mass and the veg cycle... and how they're related.

peace..

ganja luvva, think you got the wrong thread because never said i was not vegging it, the plant has been begging in 18hrs a day outside for 8-10, ready to go into flowering now.
Also Gods creator, if you go to http://www.timeanddate.com/ and put in your city, it gives you alot of info about weather, lunar cycles, also exact sunrise and sunset everyday ;) its quite a useful site, tells you also ranfall, humidity, wind speed etc, but also some other useful stuff, have a lookie :-)
