215 Plant limit with caregiver. * repost. posted it in the wrong forums*

Hello,

I live in San Diego, CA. Im curious if anyone knows what the legal amount of plants a patient can grow along with their caregiver. I've grown in my closet before but it seems as that I consume them faster than they can grow..lol

I recently added my live in fiance as my caregiver. I hear that a patient can grow 12 plants. Ive also heard that the number is 24 plants. While ones caregiver can grow double that.

If anyone knows what the exact number is I'd greatly appreciate it. I have an extra room that I can turn into a grow room =P

There was until recently a limit of 6 "mature" (flowering) plants. But the Cali Supreme Court struck down the limits to plants and bud as unconstitutional because the cops cannot legally know what volumes of plants or flowers are required by any particular patient. So officially now you can grow whatever you want. BUT, all the growers I've talked to are staying at 99 plants or less because that's where you're VERY likely to get federal attention. Can't forget even in Cahleeefornia that the DEA can bust your ass for a joint any day. Obama is saving our ass now, because he ordered Holder to order the justice department to favor state laws on pot. BUT, they still bust the big boys (100+ plants) from time to time because the local cops ask them too sometimes. It's weird and gets weirder.

Bottom line, I grow my six plants right out in the outdoors hoping for several pounds of quality shit that I'll probably recycle back through the collectives or needy friends. I'd feel comfortable if that were maybe 20 plants, but I'm not going to push it and risk getting ass-raped for 2-3 years over some DEA agent's hard-on for the 'war on drugs'. Even after November if we get a good vote, we need Obama to man up and legalize this shit.

TY Chemboy. I started converting my extra room to grow my meds. I have bought 3 600W HPS/MH lights with ballast and all. Since I have you on the line how many plants can flourish under those lights w/o under doing it? Any advice will be appreciated.

I'm not the best expert on that, corpzmanup, but I'm about the only one who will tell you that. Opinions on lights are like assholes -- everybody's got one. I go with pure SoCal sunshine myself. But I can tell you that 3 brand-new 600s is a wet dream for just about anybody in here. Have fun, stay safe, floss. That's my advice. (sorry...I'm goofy stupid when I'm high on Bubba Kush)

Thanks for the info about the plants in Cali... I'm a caregiver myself and have stayed far under the plant limit for some time now (time to increase my grow!!). But I was wondering, with your outdoor grow. Do you cultivate year round or just from spring to fall?

btw, guys, I found this updated NORML recommendation sheet that has a very clear overview on how to stay careful with everything from caregiver status to running a collective.

When in doubt, do what THEY say to stay safest from federal attention. They're being very conservative IMHO, suggesting that people stay within the now-ruled-unconstitutional guidelines. But that's what I'm doing, just because these six huge pots full of rich soil are EXPENSIVE!

I'm on my first outdoor grow, footrugs, and on other threads I'm trying to figure out what is the best strategy for year-round outdoor growing. So far, it looks like I'll take clones before flowering and keep them vegging through the fall/winter. What I'm planning is to put them in a cheap greenhouse away from my flowering plants, and use normal sunlight for as long as that lasts (say 12 hours a day during the flowering season) and then turn on some strong compact fluorescents toward the end of the sunny part of the day and about 6 hours further. In other words, I'm going to be as cheap as I can, but try to trick them into thinking they have an 18 hour day. Toward the end of the year, I'm planning to take more clones and then remove the lights so that the plant registers a less-than-12 hour day. I'm hoping this triggers flowering, but if not I'll throw them in darkness for a couple days and then revert to normal outdoor light. If I'm lucky, I'll get a second harvest (in Hawaii they get a second harvest that's about a quarter of the regular one). At a minimum, though, either the first clones or the second clones will be vegging up to spring with almost no electricity usage, and then I'll take clones from my finest ladies and start next year. That's a hell of a lot better than the pain of germinating seeds or the expense and uncertainty of dispensary clones.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has a better year-round outdoor strategy. There must be someone else in SoCal like me who's figured this out already.

I also live in SD and am glad to hear this. I am growing outdoors so I do not need alot of plants just alot of time. Can anyone here reccomend any good dispensaries here in SD. I am going to renew on SAT and have not had my card in awhile. I cant wait.

There are SO many good dispensaries in SD. Depends on what you want. PM me if you want and I'll help you find the best ones.

I heard this a lot, but he really had no choice. The supreme court overturned a previous appeals ruling, they basically said that on the subject of medical marijuana, state law preempts federal law. This means that if obama allowed any federal agency to prosecute offenders who were in compliance with state laws, he would have been committing an illegal act. That's generally a no-no for a president, especially from the supreme court.

I an not a lawyer, but I know the case that was appealed was specifically relating to state medical law (medicinal marijuana laws), I have no idea if this would apply to other drug related state laws. And if you step outside state law, you fall under the jurisdiction of federal law.

edit: And oddly, I just read a norml article which makes it sound like that case is getting some interesting interpertations... but regardless, that is why he officially told the feds to 'lay off medical users'.

Also for another $200 you can get a cultivators license that will allow you to grow up to 99 plants

Be careful with the big grows, still. NORML is recommending sticking with the state/city limits still, even though they've been ruled unconstitutional. I've seen multiple, VERY recent examples up in Humboldt where fully licensed grows are being DEA raided. The feds are still active, and they bust at least a grow a day. Probably not going to bother the guys with 24 plants, but they are ABSOLUTELY busting the 99 plant ops.

I know that change is coming and soon, baby boomers coming of age is a big help, more and more of them are getting the seats in government instead of them old guys and gals. I know that the vast majority of us baby boomers want to see it and hemp legalized and utilized, even us republicans!

I'm pissed off at the generation that enjoyed the pot revolution of the sixties and now have abandoned us. They know the truth but won't stand up for it. But our generation will kick some ass. I watched a video today from Nat'l Geo where cops are talking about finding more and more plants every time they go out. They ain't seen NOTHIN yet. I won't be happy until I see pot growing in the ditches on the side of roads. I don't even care if it's smokable. Cops think they can fight nature? Good fucking luck.

LOL agreed, in fact I am making it my duty going forward to collect all MJ seeds I can find and sow them from my moving car in that area! Maybe in a year if all of us did that we could have a bunch growing there LOL
