Strain Recommendation: Medical

Looking for help with pain management and insomnia. Prefer not to be couch-locked and love to keep active to best of my ability, both mentally and physically.

Briefly, I was in an airplane accident and needed three surgeries to get walking. Damage was all spinal, all orthopedic: no paralysis. Low spine is mostly titanium, hence my moniker. Pain is #1 problem; all other physical ailments stem from that.

Any thoughts on a relatively uplifting strain with the reputation for helping control (post-operative) pain?

I've been growing many strains to help people with pain and for myself insomnia. For sleep I really like Herijuana or K.O. Kush, the K.O has a less couchlock effect than the herijuana but they really get the job done. Now I have tried a new strain last year and got great feed back from people smoking for pain "It really works for pain" is all I hear about it. It is called Madonna, very good daytime smoke that you can do work while high, all the stains I mentioned can only be found at www.sanniesshop.com I really think that Madonna is what your looking for. good luck and keep us updated

Grizzdude, thank you for your kindly advice. Although I moved away several years back, I'm a proud Oregonian and had access to Humboldt Co. and Southern Oregon strains as a young adult. Does Madonna bear any resemblance? The pain is tough to manage and I've been to every pain management physician in my region. I've dutifully tried every treatment modality prescribed, but found no solace. Even prescription narcotics are for me relatively worthless and come with a host of side-effects that I hate.

The pain leads to appetite problems, weight loss and insomnia. Do any of your medicinal clients report relief from these symptoms as well? I positively am relocating back to Oregon in September. I shall be a naive albeit legal grower. Grizzdude, you clearly trust sannie's shop and their Madonna strain and I have to start somewhere. Can you relay anything else your clients have mentioned about their back pain? We are all different. Mine is located at L5/S1 (low in the vertebral column). When it's bad it is best described as a small Black & Decker drill boring endlessly in and out of my vertebral bodies.

dtp5150, having not smoked anything in over ten years, I will internalize your advice both figuratively and literally A nice cream reduction over vermicelli sounds wonderful and at 5'10", 140lbs, ten extra pounds on my frame wouldn't hurt at all. Thank you for the heartfelt suggestion.

One final point regarding Strawberry Cough and Madonna strains (thanks ganjaluvr & grizzdude) is that I do not need a powerful strain. A very light, low THC, delicate strain will do the job and allow me to remain engaged in life since my tolerance is so low.

ganjaluvr, does this resemble what you are getting at?

Im not too familiar with the humbolt co. and southern oregon strains, sorry. As for pain one of my patients had a slip disc in lower back many years ago and also has arthritis. He smokes the Madonna during the day and uses Herijuana at night to numb the pain and go to sleep. The heri works VERY WELL for pain also but if you smoke too much you get a couchlock effect. I tend to harvest my buds when half the trichs are milky and the other half clear too reduce the couchlock. Definetly try both of these strains. From my experience both of these strains help with appetite also. I'm not too sure of lower THC strains that can help with the pain, these are high THC strains so only a couple tokes will be needed to do the job.

O.G kush, anything with o.g like L.a, connie chung, kings kush. Or any or the ultimate kush strains they are cure all's and will help consistantly with a wide array or pain , anxieity , insomnia etc see some strains seem good at first try as medicine but in time they wont work as well. Most heavy potent kush strains never bore your sences.

Thanks people. Clearly, I'm spooked of being that guy on the sofa whose been watching the weather channel since he had his coco puffs. Nothing is wrong with that lifestyle; it simply doesn't make me happy. Herijuana, Madonna, and primary Kush. Thanks people. You have been more than helpful. Someone once told me that hope was the best elixir for intractable pain. I thought BS at the time but she was right.

A recommendation: Get a decent quality herbal vaporizer (local, amazon or eBay). Your lungs will thank you. On to pain strains: I've found Nirvana's Blue Mystic to be pretty good for pain, but you get huge phenotype variation so it's probably not the best choice for an inexperienced grower. TGA's Vortex works extremely well on me, but only for about one hour. After that it feels like you took a strong muscle relaxant (which lasts for about 10-12 hours). Vortex is a totally functional high. Blue Mystic much less so

quietgardener, thank you for your time. Several of the "Blue" strains have been recommended to me. "Aussie Blues" twice. Is it the blue parent that I should be searching for and if so, would "Aussie Blues" perhaps have a more stable phenotype? tingpoon, thak you for the advice as well. Oh, I finally found "Strawberry Cough" (Dutch Passion Seeds). It is at a domain named buydutchseeds.com - are they known to be reputable? If not, is there a reputable Dutch distributor for that strain?
