No, Ph measures the acidity of your soil. The lower the Ph, more more acidic. The higher the Ph, the more basic. Every nutrient has a range of Ph that it is available to the roots in, and a range where it is locked out. I know a Ph tester isn't cheap, but in my opinion it is the best investment you can make in the health of your plant. I don't care how good your lights/fans/hoods/soil/etc is.... if your Ph is not correct your are going to have shitty results. you can Ph papers and a cheap testing kit at most hydro stores. Not as accurate as a digital, but it will still tell you if your Ph is high or low, and then you can attack the problem correctly.
