ok here is what i did i now have 2 cfl bulbs on my seedling and i also increased its sleep time to 8 hours im hoping itl take it more lumens then grow fast in sleep

that way its getting more lumens then before and having sleep
i chose this after it purked up to the light
its chasing it and im not always there to turn the bucket so with 2 it should stay in the middlw i have one of both sides:weed:

So you are hoping that by reducing the amount of light it sees in the day it will grow faster? Hmm.

Increasing darkness will promote more stretching between nodes, but not produce faster growth. A taller plant, but not a bushier plant.

instead of 12/12 i give my plants 9 hours of light & 15 hours darkness. they are budding fast & like crazy! i had them on 12/12 for about 2 months & they wasnt doing much at all but growing taller, my friend who is a experienced grower told me to cut it down to nine hours of light & it will bud fast! & boy did it!!

Most people don't increase the dark hours until the end of flowering. If you think about the life cycle of a flowering plant it will be getting less and less light as it matures. If you switch from 12/12 to 15/9 your plant will think it is really late in the fall and will bud faster.

I think the OP is still in veg, and increasing darkness will not have any positive benefits that I am aware of.

You also need to keep in mind that flowering dark periods are very genetically dependent. This plant has evolved in many disparate locations, and as such strains can vary from needing 8-14.5 hours of dark to trigger flowering. 12/12 is a good bet statistically, but you will run into strains that will need more dark than 12 hours to build up hormone levels to flower. In books I have read everything from start at 14.5/9.5 to 12/12 and if after 2 weeks you don't see signs of flowering lower it by 30 min, and keep doing that every week or two till you find the proper flower time for your strain's genetics. You need the light to continue giving your plant energy to be the best it can be, so you're better starting off with more light time than less and dialing down till you hit what your strain needs to flower (imo at least). Once you are familiar with a particular strain you will get an idea for what it wants.

Great advice.

wow well i mean that i think if they get twice the lumens and have a longer sleep that i can get it to be tall and wont need as much attension

Too much darkness will cause your plants too muture early, thus not getting there true potental

DUDE, seriously don't make it more complex than it really is. ... stick to at LEAST 18 hrs of light ... making too much of a deal with this

no offense dude , but you worried it to death. I know you want what is best for your little one , but you gotta let her grow. Don't make too many adjustments at one time. Good luck with this next seedling.
