two 40 watt cfl??

okay well i have this ceiling fan thats brand new..cuz i havent used it yet lol..but anyway.. it comes with... (3) 40 watt equivalend medium base CFL bulbs... are these okay 2 grow with?..its by ecosmart....120v/60Hz...73...13w..2700k

note.. im not only growing with these.. i have a 150w HPS coming in the mail in 2 days///i just wanna kno if u can use these on the side..just 2 have for some extra lumens u kno

13 watts is nowhere near close enough, i doubt it'll even keep them alive. Besides you need 5500k or 6000k cfls for vegging 2700k are for flowering. you need to get bulbs that actually use at least 40 watts for any decent grow under cfls, otherwise youll be waiting a week for a inch or two of growth.

Ah i didn't see that when i posted, went up at the same time. Your going to be going from veg to flower right? i wouldnt veg with a hps if you can aford a 150 Metal Halide bulb they produce a really bright blue/white light that is way better for plant growth. Hps produces a red spectrum which is good for producing flower(buds) but not as efficent for growth.

If you don't want to order online and have no hydroshops just go to homedepot or lowes they carry 150 watt metal halides for about 30$

well iv been growing since seeds.. just some reggies from bud iv smoked lol.. but there still no where to go 2 flowring state...but the 150 hps is okay thowe right? sire not as effective but it will work

yes it will work but it honestly will affect your yield. The 30$ spent on the metal halide bulb will end up producing you a much stronger plant with thinker stems and more leaves(leaves are like solar panels absorbing energy) and you need the nice strong stems to hold the buds, little thin whimsy stems don't yield as much.


But if you absolutely cant get a MH bulb then you'll be fine till next time. Oh and youll need to replace your hps bulb twice as fast obviously which last for like 8 months to a year.

more light never hurt as far as using them soft white or cool white will do as the spec they put off promotes veg. 23 watters work fine but u might wanna add more as the plant grows.
and u wanna keep the cfls at least 3 to 4 inches away
