8 is way up there. Antone else got thoughts. I'd crap with an ec at 8 but then I want perfection. Little things make a differance. What strain? Wow 8
Unfortunately i cannot read all the posts on this thread due 1 person being on my ignore list. BUt i presume with the quote above prof you are talking about EC levels?

I use an EC meter to great effect and i can say that i never even run as high as 2.0 on my feeds.

I start off seedlings on a very weak strength feed of around 0.3 and keep upping this according to the foliage. During the seedling stage i generally keep it no higher than 0.5 until i get them under my main 600w HPS Dual spec. I then up the feeds to around 1.0 until the plants really putting out alot of growth and foliage then i up my feeds to around 1.5.

If i up the feed any more than this then there are side effects of burning to the leaves and stunted growth.

I grow in coco and feed constantly without a break and without the need to perform any flushing other than the pre harvest flush.

Prof please correct me if i am wrong in the assumption i made about EC's but like i said i cannot see the whole thread due to a member being on my ignore list.

Go slow when switching. Crack the dome open a bit and transition. Also prop them up in case they stretch. Why do you cover at all if starting from seed? no need[/QUO

if you start from seed then yes a humidity dome IS needed for the first few days, you can take it off a little bit but they need some humidity. Also yur plants wont stretch if your lights are close enough. With floros this means within inches of the tops. Put your hand under the light when its uncomfortable for you it is also for the plants. FFOF is fine for seedlings but don't feed anything but plain water for the first month or so.
You may prefer a humidity dome, but I've popped and grown tons of seeds without one.

do plants still veg after the 12/12 light switch?
and if so how long?
Its called "the stretch" and it is strain dependent. For most indicas it lasts two weeks. For sativas it can last twice as long or more.

During the stretch your plant will increase in size, for most hybrids they will increase by 50% to 100%. Some pure indicas, like Deep Chunk, won't stretch at all. Some super sativas will stretch 3x, 4x, 5x, or more. Plan accordingly before flipping to 12/12.

It seems Fdd is fricking hell bent to fuck with me. What an imature prick, and he's the Mod? Need to make a call and stop this shit. Until then I'll leave the answer to others, seem to be knowledgable.

What is your Problem Fdd, acting like a school kids screwing with shit behind the sceenes, what's your trip dude. trying to help in a kind open for all post. Take your bruised ego elsewhere, we doing just fine without your BS. This is frickin bull.

Teaching others to grow is the goal, you want me gone fine. Don't need this crap, check your penis size Fdd make sure it didn't shrink with your maturity age. A few decent growers here but I'm glad I didn't have to learn here. Fucking these kids up seems to be the norm from our Mod. Unbelievable.

Lets see what, if anything can be done to get you to chill. I was playing nice, not good enough I guess FTS

so your saying,if i veg for 4 weeks, flip to 12/12 with 2 weeks of (stretch),would that be 6 weeks of veg?

Any strain with a high drought tolerance will also have a high salt tolerance... maybe strains growing near the sea might too.

It's not about one feed, it is about a build up of feed. When growing in a medium like coco or soil most will feed weekly. So need to feed enough to ensure the plant gets what it needs for a whole week. Inevitably this means they need to feed more than the plant needs, so nutrients get left behind, maybe turn to salts or just sit available in the medium waiting their turn to be found or to bump into a root. as the grower feeds more these salts build up and add to the total salinity content of the medium.

hey professor! Im really glad you didnt let the negativity get to you and decided to stay on the site! You have a massive amount of info on growing my favorite plant and while Im new to growing(just got my medical mj card for chronic pain conditions) I am ready and willing to learn an be educated by one a the best- Now Im wondering what your way of cloning is. Im just starting to clone and have researched lots and it seems that there are a lotta diff ways to clone, besdies the cut with a razor @ a 45* angle etc. So if you would be so kind... How do you clone professor

You running that high in hydro? If so any clog problems? You use GH for nutes or who? I never get anywhere close to those numbers, kind of shocked. I'm giving numbers I use and most horticulture studies are way below but whatever works, still blown away.
Cannabis salinity tolerance is at least 6. Low end... top end 8.0...

I've fed seedlings 3.2

I know the soil procedures for measuring EC already.

That's probably why you never need to go above 2.0.

the burning leaves is a sign of K deficiency, this should be the first symptom you see on a plant growing in a medium too high in salinity. K is the first nutrient a plant has a problem transporting. hits all the fan leaves rapidly.

Burnt tips are not a good sign, but rather burned edges... burned leaf tips can just be a sign of nitrogen deficiency... the edges of the fans though going quickly necrotic show K transport problems, so you know right away it's the salts.

No I don't ordinarily run so high... but i was learning about suberin and how a plant prevents nutrients from getting in and i needed to relearn how over fertilisation takes place. i've got it down to a tee now, and my grows are much lighter.

I use a range of nutrients, GH, AN, H&G

depends how i'm feeling.

Indeed, I guess that's my screw up. Yes EC, all I need to maintain proper salt levels. My misunderstanding to the person asking. Was EC what you were thinking?

So true, if in hydro and you maintain your system that takes care of most issues. Some feeds are saltier though and don't break down as well. Proper maintinance is the key.

I wouldn't refer to it as 6 weeks of veg.

I count veg from when my rooted clones are put in dirt and placed under 24 hours of light. They start the flowering period when they go under 12/12.

Some breeders try to make their flowering time appear less by starting their counting after the stretch when the first flowers have formed. I think that is a craptacular way of doing things because it is accepted that flowering begins at 12/12.

what exactly are you talking about? i have been deleting all the attacks against you. i just spent the last hour and a half away from my computer. i come back to read this.

Enough, I was sharing with Fdd a little about respect and that I received one of two silver stars for carrying my dead spotters body for three days through the jungle so I could bring him home to his mom. Two went in, two came out. Then said I would say something if he didn't get off my ass, to which he said I was probably share secrets to the enemy. I was a long range sniper, mile plus, attatched to the 82nd airborne, received 2 silver stars (3rd highest honner given in our country), a bronze star and 2 purple hearts.

Fdd, GO FUCK YOURSELF. First and foremost I'm an american and this shit meens nothing. I laid my life on the line in the tour of duty with 26 kills over a mile and know what respect and integrity meen. You son do not and are a petty piece of shit. go run and add another spanking like the one you just did. What a disgrace to all of the decent people here at RIU and to all the Vets. FUCK YOU ASS WIPE, Fucking ban me. I got a couple things to say to your bosses. Disrespect me but not the uniform or the Country, or my fellow Vets. FUCK YOU, now run and delete it you piece of shit. Dear Doc,

I'm about 2 weeks into my first grow. Im using a 400 MH and a 600W HPS in air cooled lamps. I have a 400 cfm inline fan pushing the hot air through the lamps and out of the room. I have a few small fans pumping fresh air as well. With all this said, I'm consistently reaching temperatures above 90+ and today around noon i was all the way up to 94. It only drops to the low 80's when the lights are off.

Is this too hot for my ladies? Are there any cost efficient ways to cool it down?

Thanks,
Rug
