I was doing my daily ph water check and I was suprised to find this little bug wandering about my two mother plants. I have no idea what kind of bug it is. I looked at the sticky and none of the descriptions match this little guy.

A little description of its behavior. As i took its picture is moved around all the folige and his abdomen was moving up and down. At first glance I thought it might be some kind of wasp look alike bug but it didnt have the defining colors like a wasp does. It didnt look like it was doing any damage to the plants, just being a bug. It has wings and flies around in the grow room. I tried to capture it but it was too fast for me. Should i be concerned? Or am I just being paranoid? Any help or insight is greatly apperciated. Thanks in advance. Peace and positive energy to you.

P.S.- the yellowing on the leafs was done by my screw up, i nute burned her :( but shes ok now :)

SO nobody knows what this bug is? I find that hard to believe. I know the pics aren't the best quality but I got a couple good ones at least. It's for +rep for a reply. Come on.......

I have no idea what that bug is. However, I can't see any plant damage coming from the thing. I'm assuming its a predator, most plant munchers are either small or worms, the bigger ones eat the smaller guys. Who knows if it even eats the right kind to keep it around? I'd get it out just because its alive which means it shits. I'd be basically shocked if that thing started plant munching.

I wouldn't worry at all man, swat it and forget it.

Thanks Grizzly Adams. You are truly a man of the mountains. Ya he is pretty big as far as winged bugs go. He is fast, which in turn is making my catch and release idea more difficult.

I might just have to swat him when he lands on the bucket or on the walls of my tent. I'd imagine he would leave a gooey mess of insect guts behind. That is what im trying to avoid.

Thanks again and +plus rep for the insight and advice.

I am still interested to know what the bug is if anyone has some thoughts on that.

I cannot see from the pic what the bug is but any bug is a bad bug with an exception of a few. I would say get rid of it though. If it is a plant eater and it spawns you are gonna have alot of leaves missing.

kinda looks like The Frog Beetle "Sagra longicollis" or another variation of the Frog Beetle... something like this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/blumchen/2509524343/

also google Frog Beetle images... the hind legs kinda look like that of a frog thus the name. I'm not sure if they are of any threat to an MJ plant.
see if that's what your intruder looks like.. peace.

++update++

My first encounter with this unknown *frog beetle, perhaps* he got away.
My second encounter and I squished him on the wall. It was really putrid. Might have been some type of hybrid stink bug....ekk.
Thanks everyone for the help!
