o shit i forgot to say that agree with who ever said that you should stick with either outdoor or indoor, when i brought a 1 month old plant indoors it didn't grow an inch for like 2 weeks(i think it was stressed by the move becuz it was growing like a motha fucka before i brought it in.

I am thinking of setting up a small experiment with a couple of plants.. Some will VEG only inside, the other ones will get both, Mother Nature's light and indoor lighting... I think that might settle the endless debates..

you would also need to raise one under only sunlight to make the experiment have any value.

Well, it depends on what I want to test...
In this case: if plants grown outdoor/indoor are worse off than growing inside ONLY.

Just because you want to test how a car drives compared to another, you don't necessarily have to test out EVERY car out on the market.

Just an update... the plant looks like it really took right at the 2 week-old mark and seems to be doing good and staying healthy...

to those with some experience: does this look OK to you?
the bottom leaves seem to be a bit smaller than the top is - is this normal ?

Also, you can see in the pics the A-HOLES that come to steal crops of someone who worked hard to raise them... LOL... I hate INTRUDERS !!!!!!

yea I don't think there's anything wrong with moving them constantly from indoor / outdoor. (Just make sure the temperatures don't fluctuate too much or you're gonna get thin stretched out plants.)

I do this as well, to save energy, but mainly because the sun is more powerful.
Of course it's gonna feel like your plants stopped growing when you bring them indoors if you have them under CFLs or some shitty lights.

Just make sure you've got drain holes in those cups, and if you leave them outdoors, depending on the weather and temp you will have to water more and don't ever let the soil dry out completely when they're that young.

Oh yea, what soil are you using? At 2 weeks mine are a bit bigger. You can try giving it some weak plant food like Liquid Karma which is .5 - .5 - .1 or another brand but I use Liquid Karma cus they give out free samples of these like candy. I've found that if you add some really low NPK (and I mean really low ratio like Liquid Karma), to the soil after you drop the seed in, your plant will have a really healthy start and growth spurt as soon as it germs.

Yea it looks normal. leaves start out small and get bigger as the plant grows. Sometimes you may have deformed leaves due to nutrient problems or genetics though. I planted 8 nirvana WW and 1 has these giant fan leaves that are 3x bigger than all the others. Pretty weird. May be a male.

What sort of training do you plan on doing with them?J
sorry to say but I haven't even started to look into the advanced techniques.. I'm still a noob and all I'm trying to do is get the basics down for now.

I've heard of LST and Topping but don't have a clue what each does and the benefits of each.

I found some potting soil that was in a couple of pots outside the house. AFTER planting the seeds, I found out that the soil was already used once for some other plants and it's been sitting outside over half a year under rain/snow.

Newb? Yes, yes I am and I admit it... lol.. I'll know next time.

It's okay. I use coco now which doesnt even have any nutrients. but I like it cus I can feed the plants more often and they grow super fast.
So yea.. you're gonna need some nutes / ferts for your plants and pretty soon too or you may start running into deficiency problems

yeah, I think I'm ready for nutrients in baby steps... places such as HomeDepot and Lowes probably won't have anything worthy of purchasing... what do you use for yours? What mixture ?

Can't go wrong with Miracle Grow All Purpose Plant Food.
(I use SPL1's formula which has a lot of other costly additives), but you'll need to add epsom salt for magnesium. However, if you're using tap water it's gonna need to be dechlorinated and ph adjusted, or you're gonna end up with plants that seem to have stopped growing.
For plants that age use 1/6 tsp per gal or less of Miracle Grow.

That's what I used when I started out. I just recently switched to Botanicare CNS17 coco & soil formula. Heard good things about it and I'm hoping to outperform the Miracle Grow.
This is actually a cheaper option than having to buy miracle grow + epsom salt + ph test kit / ph down & up,
because if you use RO water with CNS17 the PH will automatically be around 5.5-6.
Most one part nutes out there don't have calcium or magnesium but CNS17 coco & soil formula does so that's pretty cool. (not sure about the CNS17 hydro formula though, make sure to read the guaranteed analysis).

CNS17 Grow for veg and CNS17 Bloom for flowering. $27 for a gallon. $13-15 for a quart. Gallon is worth it though if you plan on doing more grows, cus you have to add 5 tsp per gallon for larger plants.

I picked up some Schultz 10-15-10 today at a local store. Someone said they had pretty descent results with it. Gonna try it and see how the plants react to it.

Should I only be giving the 2 week olds half the recommended dosage ? This will be their first intro to nutrients. :hump:

If it is a first intro to nutes

Use a 1/4 the recommended.

Just so you are aware one of the best ratios for veg is 3-1-2 or 15-5-10

then for flower 2-1-3 or 10-5-30

Just so you know.
