Should I flush? First grow no experience harvesting besides lots of reading. I'm at day 45 and the little side buds look way closer than the main cola and stem buds. Nevermind the leaves I had a cal/mag/ph prob but its not getting worse. The little side buds have maybe 1 or 2 amber trichs on bud leaves and seem to be mostly cloudy but I suck with my microscope and cant get it to stabilize. Should I flush based on those little buds or the main cola?

This is the other plant that seems to be about 3 weeks back from the above plant its sitting next to. I failed the super crop of both main stems when it was first starting to shoot out bud clusters of white hairs. A couple lower buds like this pic on the left look to be finishing maybe because they were developed before the stunt in growth from the sc? Or could the fan blowing directly on it affect it?

You've still got a minute. I don't see many, if any pistols that have turned brown, I'd say give it another week or two, and then start flushing for another week or two and you should be golden.

You want to go by the cola, too.

anyone know why the buds on the other plant have hairs turning orange?
A few different reasons are possible-
because they are dying of old age and being replaced w/ new ones, very common and happens all the time or because that paticular part of the plant was stressed bad enough to kill all the pistils, or it could of been pollinated.
My bet is on it being normal.

Agreed. The first ones to pop up are the first to die, but like Dark said, they've most likely been replaced by new ones. It's a normal cycle of the plant. The buds on the outside of the plant will normally be pretty close to being all orange/brown before the cola will even be 80% orange/brown. My cola took a minute to catch up with the rest of the plant. I don't think you've got anything to worry about. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll have some gorgeous ladies in no time!

i tried flushing with non phd water of about 7.6 and then fed it mollassess and it turned yellow immediatly. Now im waiting for it to dry out so I can flush it with phd water. The one seems to need another week still before flush imo...? Thoughts?

I disagree, peak harvest is determined by trichome color not the color of the pistols. Pistols can change brown as early as 3 to 4 weeks into flowering depending on pheno.

Cannimed is correct 99%. The trichomes colours are the correct indictor. The pistols show it's a girl though (in most cases).

Generally when half the heads of the trichomes go from clear (glittery) to a perhaps opague white or amber is the proper determination of harvest timing. You will more than likely have to go get a 25x magnifying glass. I have theoretically have 15/20 vision n I can't even truly tell. These are the white little specks on the leaves too btw.

Yes, I know and understand that, but since very few of the pistols had even changed to brown yet, the plants most certainly still have a bit of time. It's a good way to tell if you've still got a little bit. Trichomes are the best indicator when you're getting down to a couple days before harvest.

Actually, trichomes are just a part of a bigger picture. Their are other signs that are just as important. Here's something from fdd, its from his harvest tutorial.

"i've been trimming for 12 hours non stop so please bear with me.

we will start with ripeness. most people say to check your trichromes with 30X magnification. i have other ways. when buds are done they look "done". the appearance of the bud changes. the leaves start to hook upwards and become hard and crispy. the calyxes will swell and the hairs will turn brown. you can see a golden tinge to the bud leaves. this is the amber crystals. they start to turn amber on the leaves first.

not ready..........

ready.......

notice the difference? it's pretty easy to see once it occurs."

Thanks for all the help guys I noticed bananas shooting out of a couple buds today.............I picked the ripest bud so I atleast have one without seeds.IMG_1493.jpgIMG_1485.jpgasdfasf.jpg
This one had the most bananas and I picked them all off the entire plant then decided to cut this bud as im curious if its seeding. I picked off the rest on the plant but they were really small and id imagine could be many deep down in the dense nugs they were really hard to get to even with tweezers. Basically I guess I just want to know does this bud look pollinated to anyone? If it is I want to cut the rest now maybe but if not I'd like to grow it a couple more weeks and chop the bananas as they come. It sucks because this bud has been swelling with resin at flashing rates as opposed to even a week ago.

No, not really. That doesnt mean it hasnt happened though, just that from those pics i see no obvious signs like all/some of the pistils dying and receding into a swelling caylx. how many were on the plant? you said they were all pretty young looking so you might be in the clear. just watch extremely closely for new ones. Dont freak out if you do see a few seeds start to form, while its far from desirable it wont completely ruin it, youll still get some real nice bud, just might have a couple seeds in it. if u see tons of seeds forming though it would be better to chop. You'll know what the right answer is in a week or so of closely watching the plant.

I'd say about 15 different locations where they were in pairs of 2 or 3. I was wondering about the receding pistols thing...don't they do that anyway bout this time cause it looks like there are some maybe.

ouch, that hurt. I was thinking you were gonna say like 2 or 3 total...... The seed pod will sort of swell up more and look a little different than just a swelling caylx, your right though and it can be a bitch to try to tell for sure at first, thats why i said within a week or so. by then you should be able to see for sure.
