I just got a sweet reflector but,
it doesn't have any air ciculation nor does it require a glass shield,
how do I keep this sucker running cold... point a fan right at it? mount a fan blowing cold air by it... ? should I mount the air going out to as close as possible to it... what should i do?....
kinda just want to mount vent....is this not efficient????
any feedback .....

it's a 600w hps...
thanks.

kinda looks like this ,, ex. has closed top and closed sides...

custom made reflector sepose to be amazing and want to make it work without drilling into it..... I thought reflectors had air outake ports to get rid of hot air -- Or is this just the way it's done....
any feedback would be great..

thanks.
a picture of it wuld help. even if its a googled picture of one that looks similar to it.

Many open ended hoods don't have any air cooling.
If its a close ended hood and a home made one to boot you'll need to point the fan so that its blowing over the top of your plants and over the reflector simultaneously which is what i do with my open ended unit anyway.:blsmoke:

if its open ended you could enclose it with metal and put holes in the end. like my cheap htg reflector has a punch-out for.

I don't do that as i want to put my main 1 or 2 plants directly under the light and i put a load of "test subjects" around the outer edges of my grow area.
Because of the open ends the light is spread all around the space and gives okish light to the outer areas.

I only use a 400watt hps and to be honest i am perfectly happy with what i get from it.
But you are right in what you say if you want all of the light to beam onto the top of only the plants that are directly underneath the lamp then that is the way to do it.:blsmoke:

i prefer not to use a reflector at all honestly.
i like small places with an open bulb and supreme ventilation. make yourself a lighted wind tunnel and youll pump out supreme buds.

I paid the extra 30 bucks and got vents added to it...
f-it... why not... the only way I'll learn is to try it and find out...
thanks for the tip.....

ya gotta get the air cooled reflector for the 600w HPS. that thing throws off HEAT!!! but if your grow room is big enough you can do it with fans and exhaust. g'luck
