When I was 13 I was getting drunk and smoking weed daily. Granted, I wouldn't want my kid doing it at that age; but I'd be a hypocrite if I tried to stop him from living a little.
That's why I'll never have kids. All parents are hypocrites.
As for getting busted.. talk some sense into him and give him pointers on staying on the down low. =D

I'm an underwriter for a bail office... I wouldnt worry if it's just public intox... In fact he's probably gunna get a slap on the wrist if this is 1st offense
This is his first offense, but he did tell the school security officer he got it from me. How much am I going to be implicated in this?
Security did not find any thing in his possession other than some cigarettes, but the pack smelled of weed.

As much as the judge sees fit, but i don't think he is going after you without solid evidence. The issue here is harsher penalties on your son
But you can't be too careful... If you have an operation in your home, i would suggest it being moved. If you just smoke, then i wouldn't worry anymore

The principal told me the school board will hold a hearing also to see about expelling him.
But I am wondering how long I have before I should clean up. I have one plant that will be ready for harvest in a week or so. Dont know if I should go ahead and clean it up now or not. Would him telling them he got it from me be enough to warrant a search? However, they know he lies alot so I am not sure how much emphasis they will put on his claim.

Naw, man... harvest your baby... The case won't have any effect on anything for at least another month, and i HIGHly doubt he will be expelled. Expect in-school suspension.
But most importantly 13 (8th grade?) is too young to be going to school high. He needs to get his head in the books... At least until he adjusts to high school. Just an opinion

As far as the expulsion goes, that just means he wont be allowed to go to his regular school, he would have to go to the alternative school where all the trouble makers go. He has been suspended for 10 days. He is in the 7th grade. He knows I smoke and he knows I have plants in my closet. But yes, he is too young to be going to school stoned. I have told both my kids that if they should choose to smoke that while I will not condone them doing it, but if they are I would rather them come home and do it in the safety of their home.
After I picked him up at school I went to Lowes and bought me a locking door knob for my room.

Good plan! just make sure you clean up your grow area after harvest... at least for a while until it all blows over. Wouldn't want to have to be bailed out... Then you gotta deal with guys like me, and i promise having a bounty hunter on your every move is no fun.

I am going to get a copy of the police report. But, from what I gathered it was not necessarily that he was stoned. I believe what it is mainly that he also said that he sold what he took from me on the way to school. School rules indicate that because he was on the way to school when this happened. And that they could have charged him with trafficking, but they opted to just charge him with PI. Apparently they did not have enough proof for trafficking.

Yeah. That in a way is what kinda sucks due to his age and naivety. They would not have gotten shit out of me. However, in a sick sort of a way, I am kinda glad he got busted, I have been having some issues with him and hopefully the judge will go Judge Judy on his ass. But, I know I will prolly get my ass chewed out by the judge too.
He was busted by the school security guard (which smokes also). I know her a little bit. She said its the kids stupidity that gets them busted every time. Plus, he had about 75 bucks on him. Some of it was his Christmas money, but the other 20/25 bucks was probably from what he sold.

Sounds like a scared kid to me. You haven't even stated whether he actually had anything on him at the time? I'm assuming he would have been charged with possession had he actually been caught with anything. Jesus, just see a lawyer -- why do people automatically assume they have to accept something? Especially in the case of a minor?

What you need to do is sit down with your son, and discuss the MAN...
It's my understanding of the law and other people that gives me enough maturity to be able to handle smoking and my line of work.
You can do it! Talk with your son about the workings of authority, and empower him with his rights. Because with rights comes responsibility, and with responsibility comes maturity
