I went to check on a couple of my guerrilla girls and something had been digging down into the roots on one of them. I filled the hole back up and watered her. I'll have to keep a close watch on her from not on. There is a very heavily used deer trail not 30 yards from my plants. I hope that liquid fence works out well for you; I'll be checking on that.

im in ga too and the heat is killer. ive been using water crystals and they seem to work really well with the water issue. I only water once a week and im using an above ground rubbermaid container. need to put up a fence asap tho, i know the deer are lurking everywhere....

Well, my transplant didn't kill the plant I put in a better light location that had been taken by one of the males I pulled. That damn deer ate it too, lol.

It seems that since I waited too long between applications of the liquid fence he (or she) got a taste for my pot plants and now doesn't care that they are soaked in liquid fence.

Miracle Grow Bloom Booster combined with a cow manure tea. The purists will scoff at using MG, but it has grown my plants just fine in a terrible soil environment (amended heavy clay). I'm not about to spend tons of money on Fox Farm or any other of the highly marketed blooming compounds. Just not worth it.

Gardner & Bloome (Kellogg) is cheaper and better than MG, IMHO.

Where there isn't G&B available, there is Kellogg .

Its all about how its applied, your methods of cultivation .

MG can work wonders for you though if used properly.....

Lol. Yeh, Miracle Grow grew those male plants I pulled quite nicely (mutters to self about that group of bastards at the seed bank).

You've said you're using liquid fence to ward off the deer. While a lot of people swear by it, it's fallible.

Every time I go to my spot, I mean every time, I hear deer scurrying away. I've had 2/3 of my original seedlings eaten by deer. They don't leave anything.

Ever since I installed the above deer fence, I haven't had a single critter problem. It's easy to put up, and it's not very visible, especially in a forest environment. I've actually backed into it accidently having forgot it was there, and caught myself up in it.

It does a good job and is strong, but is just a recommendation from someone else who's had really bad deer troubles.

Yeah when those pesky deer get hungry they'll eat almost anything. During a drought 2yrs ago they were chewing the ends of toxic plants in my yard. A 8.5' wire fence around my veggie gardens and a greenhouse were my solutions-- physical barriers.

There's no such thing. Fertilizer doesn't produce bud, healthy leaves do.

Try mothballs scattered around the plants for cheap pest control.

Grasshoppers are so bad this year they're eating my neighbor's cactus! They did my hollies in, and holly has really tough leaves.

Yeh, I had mothballs around the site, but weather has reduced them somewhat. I think I will head to the store today and pick up another five or six boxes and scatter them around. Wouldn't hurt to run by the barber shop and pick up some more human hair too.

The deer around here shouldn't be hungry enough to eat food sources that smell and taste bad (which is what the liquid fence does to plants - makes them smell awful to animals and taste bad). We have had some really good rain, so there is a lot of greenery around for the deer to munch on. I think it is just because I let the fence wear off and the deer now has a taste for pot.

I think I will also pick up some fishing line and build a cheap fence around the site. I have plenty of stakes I can use to hold the line.

Went to the site early this morning and one of the plants I thought might be a male was a male. He is no longer of this earth.

So, that means I have five plants left, one of which is showing signs of being a female and one of which I think might be a male. The other three have not showed any signs of sex yet.

If the last plant bought from the seed bank turns out to be a male (which I think it is), then that will mean every seed bought from the seed bank as a feminized seed will have grown into a male plant.

Shame. I had such high hopes for this grow and now the site looks really bare with only five plants in it.

bummer about the male. hopefully there well be no more male.. don't be discouraged with the 5 plant. hell my 1st outdoor grow i lost 1 plant out of 6 and still got 2 1/2 lbs. and they were in 19 gallon pots not the ground.. so im sure you will do way better then 2 1/2 lbs bro.. so pick up your head and smile, and say together with me, I AM GOING TO HAVE SUM BOMB BUDS AND A SHIT LOAD OF IT.... LOL

Damn man, that really blows about the males. You should raise some hell about those seeds man; you put in a LOT of work on that grow. IMO, they ripped you off. Tell them you have a LOT of people following your thread and you'll give their name if they don't do the right thing and send you true feminized seeds.

Damn dude read my way through. Seems to be a well kept secret to keeping the critters away. I tried mothballs shaved up bars of irish springs soap, and deer repellent only to have them vanish without a trace. A good fence seems to be the only real trustworthy option. I guess it really depends on how well you pick your site. I have a few patches that havent lost a single plant. Other patches wiped completely out and closed for the season. I always roll with the mindset of not putting all my eggs in 1 basket. So i spread out a lot of plants to see what works and what dont. Still on that mission aswell. The last of the seed bank seeds was a male so he got pulled this morning. That damn deer didn't eat my other plant, but he did break it low on the stalk. Looks like he tried to eat it, didn't like the taste so then he stomped on it. I guess that was the equivalent of him sending his meal back to the kitchen.

Physical obstructions are around the remaining three plants, and I believe all three are females.

I wrapped white tight knit netting around my plants....... it worked, but only after they were completely enclosed. The only deer deterent that has worked 100% succesfully was dogs..... both are solutions that are extremely difficult to incorporate into a guirrilla grow. Maybe side along solutions with the same underlying functions would work?

Now if I can keep that pot-eating deer from scarfing them down, the bugs from laying eggs in the newly forming buds, or the weather from destroying them I might actually get a pound or so of smoke for my troubles.

Definitely not worth it economically, but certainly worth it from an instructional/learning basis.
