12/12 From Seed and 1st DWC Too !

So do I feed with a LIGHT bloom or grow nute mix after about 2 weeks in R/O water ? I have GH Flora Grow, Bloom and Micro as well as PBP products. Not sure which to use for now, still deciding.

BLACK 20 gal RubberMaid tote with black tubing, 4 medium round air stones, 5" net pots ( 4 of them) and an Eco 4 port Air Pump w/ adjustable air flow. Never seen a tote like the one I found....square and measures 22" H x 22" L x 18" W. Pics to follow once the 4 beans sprout out the rapid rooters. Medium will be hydroton (already rinse VERY WELL) and will be soaked in 5.5 ph'd water 24hrs prior to use.

Strain is Magic Monkey : Outlaw Growers Magic Merlin (f) x Gorilla Grape (m) which I made last Winter. Tired of soilless and will grow his DPD and Neferti's C99 this Winter, if this goes well, and cross those too.

Yeah the plants are still young so I would start with like 1/3 recommended dosage and push it up slowly.

I also use the gh nutes. Look up the lucas formula. If you follow that you only need to use bloom and micro nutes. Its also is just about the simplest method out there. I like to start my babies out at 1/4 strength nutes after two weeks of plain tap water. Then i up it 1/4 every two weeks till i get to full strength.

You should also put some thought into having a veg period, even if its only 1 or 2 weeks, it will definitely do your plants some good, as well as a little more strength when packing on buds.

Feel honored you dropped in.
Thanks to you I bought 2 Igloo coolers today and the 2in Perma R styro insul today.
Coolers meas 22" x 12" on the inside and are 48qt/45L (11.9gal = 34L/3.78L). The styro insul is rated R-7.
Will set up both coolers and transfer 2 pots/cooler in 2 weeks, after the three 2gal Air Pots nest the DWC finsh.

Good lookin out BB ! Got a good feeling !

All 4 are sprouting.
Forgot I had some insul duct wrap. Adhesive on the back.
PPM 62
PH 5.5
Water temp 73.9F
Ambient temp 81F, same as outside, with lights on

Temps were staying too damn high, so I had to make some quick changes...........

Temps avg 77F - 78F with lights on after 3rhs in the regular tote WITH 1/2gal frozen water !! :shock:

Time to bust out one of the Igloo coolers and see if this shit works. So I quickly made a new lid with 4 - 5in holes.

Transfer :

11gal H2O
PH = 5.5
PPM = 90
NEW temps = 68.2F after 1/2gal frozen water dropped in and stable for 3hrs
TEMPS DOWN -10.2F AS A RESULT !!!!:hump:

Yaaay!

One thing quick. PPM at 90 or 900? My Hannah has me multiply my reading,

if my meter shows 065 I'm at 650 PPM. Check that for me.

I feed my seedlings Tap water of no more than 250 ppm.

Sometimes I have to run a little R/O in there to drop it.

Next I have got to get you to change your nutes before you go to long with the poisons
you are feeding them.

I have a Sunleaves PPM meter.
Milwaukee PH / TEMP combo meter
My R/O water is 20 ppm before adding anything

Bought some Amquel so I can us my city tap, which has Chloramine in it instead of Chlorine. Letting it sit out and/or bubbling it doesn't get rid of that extra Ammonia molecule.

LOL.....don't like my GH Flora's huh !?
What do you have in mind ? I have PBP too.

2 things only on my mind when feeding my babies,,,,,

1 Veg Nute
1 Bloom Nute
ph down
a lil' hygrozyme if I think they need it.

Yeah, spending all that money on ingredients is CRAZY
Last three grows I spent all of $15.00 bucks on nutes
Spent more on ph down
NEVER use ph up

It took a long time to figure this out.
My nutes and feeding schedule are what give me my wild ass grows.
2gpw's nailed and down pat. Working on 3 and shooting for 4gpw.

and you know what?

I'll get there,.

But for now you have some experience gathering ahead of you.
You have time, heck I'm still learning and yearning.

Work what you have for this grow and keep a good journal in a note book,
write down all you observe and note time and date.
After a half dozen grows it starts to make sense (hopefully)

I'll keep an eye on ya,,,,,,,

I only use a little bit of r/o when i see a spike in ppm, as an additive.

I never start out with r/o

too expensive and tricky to get the right minerals back in there,,,,,,

Tap Water
Degassed
add the ph down.
Mine comes out at 250 ppm
Perfect to start the babies.

I just filled 2 - 5gal buckets with my tap
ppm 294
ph 7.4
temp 81.7F
adjusted ph to 6.0
Dropped 2.5ml Amquel per bucket to remove the b.s. and put 5in round/flat air stones in each too
temps in cooler below 66F for a few hours now......lovin it !

exactly what nutes r u using and how much

Wish I knew the breakdown of that 294 ppm tap, like the Gen Hydro Calculator does.
R/O water would cost me $3/wk to change my res and the 20ppm is of minute concern.
FUGG ! That tap got me nervous Professor !! lmao

I am amped right now !
Just saw a single root about 1/8 inch long, sticking out the bottom of the first pot on the right.
Been just 5 days since the rapid rooters were put into the hydroton, after the tap roots cracked the shell.
I am ready to see this explosive growth that hydro boys and gals talk so much about.

The 2 older ( by 1.5 days) net pots on the right have 2 roots each hanging. Getting exciting for my first DWC !! lol
