I have a 4x8 sun hut

2(1000) MH in xxxl hoods

carbon filter/inline fan 500 cfm

2 osc. fans

small portable ac unit, with heat venting to the outside

im at 85 and climbing and for the life of me dont know what else to do.

is it the damn tent material reflects heat or something?

Man This same problem has been driving me crazy!!!!!
The carbon filter is restricting some air so you probably not quite getting 500 cfms, you could try a little bigger inline fan...but not the inline boosters, those don't work for shit!

That space may be a little small for all that space too...

I worked for months trying to solve my heat issues, and couldn't get it, so I said screw it and did my research on LED's
I'm gonna buy the one that high times reared the best LED in their latest issue. There expensive but no more heat issues, no more A/C, exhaust fans, and overall a lot cheaper overall on the electricity bills!

Your only exhaust fan is pushing through a carbon filter. You have the Sun Hut 4.8.7 which is 224 CF. Your fan theoretically is replacing the tent with fresh air every 30 seconds which should be fine. What temperature are you keeping the house or building where the Sun Hut resides? If the portable AC is rated high enough, consider placing it outside of tent with fan blowing towards your intake. The only other thing I have to add is if that doesn't do it, duct your lights and have the air come from outside of tent, through hoods and then outside.

Good luck! Let us know if you solve it.

You've listed all the reasons I'm doing an LED build and grow. My last power bill was over $500 and thats too friggin high.

Hmm ill have to look into the led's.

I think one of the problems is that i wasnt pulling cool air from the outside through the lights.

the temp outside of the tent is nice and cool, in a basement, under 70.

I was looking into the hydro chilling water cooling light thing, but it looks very complicated.

I feel your frustration though, i spent somuch time putting together that tent, and the ac unit was the last piece of the puzzle, and after all that work and energy, its too damn hot and basically useless as of right now. thanks for the tips.

If the ambient temp in the room is 70, you should have NO problem cooling that tent down. Let us know how it goes after drawing in outside air on the lights. That alone should drop it 5-7 degrees quickly. I'm subing the thread and following up on ya. :)

Ambient temp in my room is mid 70's during the day and mid 60's at temp in my tent 2x4x7 is 95+ during the day and 90+ at night. Vent cool air from on low from window, exhausting hot air from top(no scrubber) in attic space and have another fan sucking air from cooltube from outside air to outside! No idea had friend who has 10+ indoor experience running mutlple fans tell me all look right...buy an AC! great another $100+ and electric bills to go with $450+ I've spent on fans and ducting for 56cf tent! lol any suggestions would be great...getting reday to try cfl's!!!

95 * holy shit excuse my french but whats way to hot you might be able to get away with 90* max ! its time to use a inline 4 inch ducting fan to put in more freash cooler air in your grow tent dont worry about making a hole in the tent .

o god where do i start....

1. your talking out your ass
2. mj can handle heat as it originated in central/south asia where it is humid and hot
3. my grow box was in 100+ temps for a week and had no problems

so basically stop spreading false info

Easy there cowboy. Not all strains are ideal near the equator. There are many strains that will not do well in high temperatures and there are some that do very well. And growing indoors with hot and humid flower rooms will invite pests and fungi. Tiger is actually correct in suggesting 90 degrees as a max for indoor weed, and that is IF you are supplying co2. Most strains that do well indoors aren't going to like heat over 90 at all.

im gonna add a seperate light fan that draws cool air in, and have the other fan scrub and act as the exhaust today, ill let you know how it goes.

That SHOULD fix it :) but ya never know until ya do. Good luck. I really think that will do it.

Well I made the change and it is much better. The problem is that I took back my ac unit once i decided it didnt work, so i still cant really tell. But I know that I can get away with only one light and no ac, i settle in right at 80. So, with the ac in the right spot, i think i will be ok with the two lights.

The only thing is that my flower room is over twice the size of this tent so i dont want to have 2 ac's running so much because when i got my electricity bill last month i nearly fainted.

I will at the very worst, do a small grow with the one light, and just do some experiements, for i am such a newby. And eventually just go with a couple LED's and use the tent as my veg room. I read that LED's are great for veg. Thanks for the help guys.

if you are using a portable ac unit that is not a duel hose you need to convert it or get a duel. single hose units suck ass. with some duct tape sheet metal and vent tubing you can covert

thanks, I agree. I decided that I am going to just use the tent as a small veg room in a future perpetual setup i have planned. i live in michigan, so i cant have that much on hand at a given time, so i have to plan it so i only chop down a certain amount every so often.

For the tent, I will get 2(190) LED's to avoid the heat issues and electrical bill surges. However they arent cheap, to say the least, so i have to wait.
