I bought a bag off my local guy yesterday. Its good smoke, gets the job done, but......it smells and tastes like soap. Anyone have any ideas as to fix this problem?

I have had this problem. There was a guy that I knew who kept his weed in a drawer that also had bars of soap in it. Why? I have no idea, but it made the bud smell like soap.
Now, just that I am thinking you could try a few things,
1) Get more POT! You could disperse this "soapy" pot among the non-soapy pot. Hopefully this will dilute the soap smell. However, you are running the risk that the soapy pot could contaminate the non-soapy pot and make everything "partially soapy".
2) I didn't want to say it but you could "air out" the pot. Meaning, let it sit on the counter and the air will take some of the "soap" with it. Unfortunately this will leave you with some tumble weed.
3) Smoke it.
4) Has anyone on here ever tried to "spice" their pot? hahaha, I do not mean throwing paprika on it. I mean, like take a cheesecloth, throw some dried sage in it and put it into mason jar! do you think this could work? I am going to find out!

Find a weed dealer that doesn't have to hide his pot from room mates(parents) and you should be fine. Sounds like they are storing it in a scented place to avoid detection. I can't think of any other reason; I don't know anyone who prefers pot that smells/tastes like soap.

I've come across that before aswell, I've also had whiskey smelling and tasting weed, dog shit smelling, hay smelling. It sux! But here in Brazil they do literally anything to the weed to add volume and weight! Fucking rank! Not much you can do bro, try what gonfishin said about mixing it with another aromatic herb, at the very least it will dilute the smell.

If whatever you store you pot in has a certain smell, than you can pretty much guarantee your pot will grab atleast a hint of it. That's just one reason folks prefer glass as means of bud storage. I know folks that put a half dried peel of a citrus fruit in with their stash to empart orange or lemon or w/e flavor/smell.

well i appreciate the good comments, thanks all those who said i should just find a new dealer....way to go. I think this shit was shipped in like this. Either way, i smoked it all up, i let it sit in a cigar tube for 2 days and let it air out. actually worked. thx.
