Does smoking in grow room effect plants negatively?

Me and my partner are having a debate. He wants to smoke in the growroom but ive heard through experienced growers thats bad for the plants. We have good ventilation. Just wanted to see if anyone has facts on this. Plants are in flower. He works at a local club and they smoke in room with vegatative plants. No effects there. But i dont like taking chances especially since we are in flower.

they say its bad but i do it every day and i always have (i DO keep a spotless growoom besides the smoke) and not to brag but my plants always are very healthy and the meds, well the meds are always the best in town so ...

i say do it if ya like. you should have so much air moving in there and sucking out a filter anyhow so it shouldnt build up smoke at all.

I've been wondering the same because I heard that too recently. I also smoke in my grow area and see no ill effects.

well any type of smoke has harmful things in it like tar, whick could get on your pistils. just be safe like you said and toke out back or something, not near something youve been loving and careing for

Thanks guys. Im just not trying to have something dumb like smoking in there ruin a crap load of hard work. Not sure where the info comes from that says its a bad thing. I think we have clear proof by your accounts that its not gonna turn plant to hermie's or effect yeild. Thanks again. I guess my roomate wins this debate.

If a plant senses enough smoke in the air it will close it's stomata for a few minutes or even hours, which effectively puts the plant on pause for the duration.

I live in a duplex and i usually try to smoke in my veg room so that the filter eliminates the odor. I am not sure if it has negative effects but i have never seen any. I do use liquid light though which opens stomata so i dont know if this has something to do with it or if the negative effect is so small it is unnoticable.

I go in my room daily to smoke and have a nice talk with them. I have plenty of ventilation and all my smoke goes right into the carbon filter. Shiiiit I even let them know they will be getting smoked soon. Good thing they speak Dutch or they would be pissed.

you would have to shut off all your fans and literaly blow the shit right on them to shut them down.

it's not the same at all unless there is so many people in there smoking that YOU cant breath.Thats like saying the trees in a state park shut down all day from all the idiots with campfires.Smoking around your plants can be a positive thing in regards to pests, tobacco is poison to lots of bugs.most grow rooms are well ventilated,and yes if you shut off all the fans and sit in there and smoke all day you are not helping anything. I smoke in my garden and so do my friends but my room gets new air 3 times an hour, if you use common sense your plants will be fine.Trust me on this i smoke 2-1/2 packs a day and at least 15 of those are with the ladies.

Trees in a park are not the concern; cannabis plants often have much time and money invested in them. A lot of people strive to get the very best out of their set up, and smoking around the plants is counterproductive. Why spend time adjusting PH, getting the best nutrients, and controlling temp/humidity and then fill the room with toxins. The exhaust in any given grow room may be enough to remove the smoke, or it may not. As for pests, there are far better ways to deal them.

while this thread is informative .... i've noticed that it's been in discussion for the past few days now .... always at the top of the forum of plant problems... don't get me wrong. I've learned smoke isn't great to have around plants. Having said that. shouldn't this subject be moved to a different forum?? smoking around your plants doesn't quite qualify as a plant problem does it?

I would imagine that all that extra smoke your filter needs to deal with would cause it to degrade faster. It would more than likely mean you need to change the carbon filter more often... A hassle I would rather be without.
