I just started one last night, the seedling is about an inch and a half ATM

So to save money, i'm not going to go with the HPS/MH system...since it's my first grow, do you think four 42watt cfls (6500k) will be enough for vegging? and then four 42watt cfls (2700k) for flowering?

you could probably get 2lbs with that much. i would say use all of them during flower though. no need for just the red spectrum. you'll need to position each light ~.5" from the bud, so you'll have to move them almost daily
It won't be even close to 2 pounds, I would guess the most you could get would be 3 ounces max. Expect half that. CFL's are not big producers.
i figure 8 lights X 40 watts each = 320 watts.
A perfect grow is 1 watt=1gram, so I figured half that would be a safe estimate for cfl's, and then maybe half that after all the water weight is lost....
but yeah, 2 lbs seems like way too much. my gut instinct would be he could get 3-4 ounces

Haha nicee, I was expecting 1/2 ounce, which I'd be happy with....so wait, do u guys suggest I use all 8 lights for veg/flowering? Or just 4 6500k for veg and then 4 2700k for flowering? Thannks for answering my n00b questions.

Sounds like a good idea bro, if it's just one plant those lights will turn that thing into a monster. I'd recommend 2 plants if u have room, just incase one doesn't turn out. Not sure if you are growing stealth or not, but a T-5 set up would be the best to get if you have the room, maybe a little more money since it needs a ballast, but definitely more effective. Personally tho CFL's are working okay, so far this one has outdone my outdoor seedling

great, thanks man! I'll def be following your grow journal. Ya i'll try two plants, just gotta look for another seed. Right now i got a pineapple X kush (forgot the name) seed from bag in the freezer until i get all my supplies!

I'm planning on starting up a small grow like this set-up, except in a Secret Jardin DR100 tent. It's about the same dimensions. The list doesn't have any odor control, isn't that going to be a problem during flowering? I was hoping to ventilate using a Honeywell 8" fan with a 6" vinyl duct blowing air out of the grow tent. I was hoping to build a simple carbon filter ala Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzkZgQkrT40), probably a bit shorter in length because I don't think the fan is very powerful. Any feedback?
