Mo Money Mo Light Dispersion

Now all of you fine folks out there who have taken the step into HID lighting and grow rooms and the like, know how much of a pain choosing good equipment can be. When I moved from Hawaii to Colorado I had to go indoors part of the year and tucked a bit of cash aside to get a grow tent and 600 watt set up. The dilema began..bulb?..hood?..ballast?..digital ballast? I used the sun forever and I knew from experience other bulbs just don't quite get the results. I splurged for a digital ballast...a good investment at the time. The bulb was hortilux...the best. But the hood, it was not all good in the hood. I got a basic open wing style reflector as my set up was designed for an open hood with fans to control temps. I came into some extra cash, and the need to expand came into play a few years later, and here we are. I decided to go balls out and get the best of the best of everything. Especially in the hood, it reflects well...all the light down, why not go big. I looked at every make and model read reviews and it was pretty easy to see the Adjust A Wing is allegedly the bomb. It looked cheesy and cheap, and I had my doubts, looked at the brochures. I picked up the large for my large tent, and got the super spreader, highly advised by others. Well see for yourself and tell me what you think. I was blown away at how the light pattern was...well small, and the adjust a wing actually was just as bright from corner to corner of the area. It actually seemed brighter on the outside edges. Im not selling shit, but if you grow indoors, run an open hood set up and have 230$ bucks to upgrade I advise you cop one of these hoods, my colas will be larger and more consistant. So I guess forking out more dough can get you more results! I definately got what I paid for in both hoods, the cheap one worked...but I can instantly see the adjust a wing has alot more to offer and well as my temps run 8 degrees cooler and I went UP 400 watts. I gotta go stare at them some more before the light cycle shuts down for the night...lates! :weed:

if u think about the design of the reflector its actually better . the main concept of this hood is the fact the the middle part is pointed. so that the light doesnt reflect right back at the bulb, instead it brings it to the sides of the hood. not only that , these hoods are good for widening the area of reflection. even though i dont have one , i must agree simply because of the design...

now the only thing i was always curious about is, Are these hood makers using the best reflective material possible?

Ahhh, good point, are they using the best stuff for reflection! The IPhone maker just signed on with someone for some kickass material for the latest too expensive product they sell, sposed to be space age, makes metal reflect like the Silver Surfer dude himself! Now if we could snag some o that shit......

yea, because i have noticed from looking at different hoods /reflectors, that sometimes the material isnt the same, Some are more reflective / visa versa.

I Tweaked on my bendable reflector to get the best reflection possible. I was sitting there looking under it, Bending it. Looking under it, Bending it. and using the light meter also. Now i got it bent to a point where its perfect. Before i tweaked on it the light meter would on max out 5inches away, now its PEG'd around 10inches from it. So i seen a huge difference j ust from tweaking the reflector.

These are ALL TECHNICALS of growing that u will notice and realize. reflection and light efficiency is crucial, esp when flowering

Absolutely, it's all the little things when added together, like reflection, that make the difference between weed that can pass as decent buzz or weed that kicks your tail. I've always gone for the kick ass, like yourself, so the more we tweak the better the tail!

It's hard to sit back and not notice something new you can do to make shit better.
